Thus RUTHMANN provides within the successful HEIGHT performance class now in total 11 current models with working heights from 38 m to 75 m.

Already during the ‘bauma’ exhibition where RUTHMANN showed the new highflex STEIGER ® of its HEIGHT performance class T 510 HF and T 570 HF for the first time, it had been published that two other models will be introduced in autumn 2016. The goal of this offensive: To strengthen and further expand the current leading market position nationally and internationally.

Working with 320 kg in 75 m height

The newest and highest STEIGER ®, which RUTHMANN has in its portfolio is from now on the so-called T 750 HF. It has a working height of 75 m, 41 m maximum lateral outreach and can be mounted, according to customer requirements, on a standard 4-axle chassis of, for example MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo or Scania. Even with a basket load of 320 kg, 75 m working height can be reached. This is in fact important for each application/ use. For example, in the segment ‘maintenance of wind turbines’ with a hub height of up to 75 m. For such applications, always one operator and at least one employee who works on the higher located object are needed. With necessary tools and material in the basket, 320 kg is a practicable value.

The customers and operators will experience more utility by 2° more elevation of the telescope system. By the current 83° elevation angle and with only 8.7 m jacking width, it is possible to support even closer to the objects.

The possible maximum permissible inclination, RUTHMANN permits for all major equipment of HEIGHT performance-class and in turn shows practicality in use, is 2°. This is considerably more than usual in the market and extremely useful because the user does not compensate for as much of inclinations. Thus, he needs much less compensation material (for example plates or timber beams), which equally increases safety. In addition, lower set-up times are needed. Together these are again real pluses for RUTHMANN.

Second coup: The new T 650 HF

All this also applies to the second new STEIGER ® with the model name T 650 HF, with which operators can reach 65 meters working height. This model as well is offered on a 4-axle chassis (32 t) of various manufacturers and offers the advantage that the total length of the working platform unit does not exceed 12 m total length.

With 43 m outreach (at a basket load of 100 kg) – this is still 4 m longer than the current 60 m-class-STEIGER ® T630 – the T 650 HF takes the worldwide top position in its class. It is provided with the ‘highflex’ telescopic technology, as well as the bigger model T 750 HF.

Maximum mobility in dizzy heights

The ‘HF’ in the model designation of the new STEIGER ® is an abbreviation for ‘high flex’. With this terminology RUTHMANN summarizes extraordinary, constructive developments in the field of work basket rotation angle and work basket boom rotation angle offering the user a high degree of operational flexibility and freedom of movement.
The maximum highflex work basket rotation angle is 440° and the RÜSSEL ® respectively the work basket boom rotation angle is a genuine 220°. In connection with the unique work basket construction and the concept of the ‘standing/upright work basket’, operators can navigate very flexibly not only at higher located objects.
This is possible in the underfloor area as well and with ‘up and over and back’ situations in use, completely new possibilities arise. With the highflex developmentRUTHMANN provides numerous technical advantages with a lot of application-specific benefits for the operator and thus added value for customers.

It depends on the length

Operators will get additional flexibility in use by the further extended upper boom telescopic system. Since 2012 RUTHMANN customers had bought the HEIGHT performance-class also because of the long upper boom system with long telescopic extension. The maximum upper boom length gives the user enough outreach where it is needed with large appliances, and this is at high altitudes. With the modified upper boom telescopic system, an upper boom outreach of additional 1.5 m was developed for highflex customers of the T 650 HF and T 750 HF (in contrast to the T 630 and T 720). The maximum total length of the upper boom telescope with RÜSSEL ® results now in 21.05 m. Another useful feature for the operator and at the same time a market-leading feature of RUTHMANN.

Optimal for under and over and over and under

The new highflex models have furthermore the RUTHMANN advantage of the ‘standing/upright work basket’ which is always useful if you navigate to higher located objects (for example under a pipe line) and then want to raise the work basket from behind the pipe line in order to work from behind the object. By that advantage and by the innovative basket/ jib construction with the highflex models, there is the opportunity to make use of a 2 x 220° basket rotation angle, when the work basket boom is swivelled downwards.
This gives the new STEIGER ® models the advantage that you can telescope also over objects and then have at your disposal a maximum of 440° work basket rotation angle when the basket boom is lowered or even retracted. The boom system can be aligned more precisely than ever before to work assignments on masts, under overhangs or buildings.

Highflex even with the chassis selection

RUTHMANN promises to offer with the highflex innovations different carrier chassis and manufacturers as well – as with nearly all other STEIGER ® models. MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Scania and Volvo, with short or long cab, are the most popular chassis in Europe. RUTHMANN also builds on chassis which are overseas in vogue. For example in North America Freightliner, International, Kenworth or Mack.
Road capability through off-road, short overall lengths, low head heights under 4 m and compliance with GVW or sufficient load capacity reserve complete the listing of the STEIGER ® benefits.

Benefits of common parts in steel construction and control

Like no other manufacturer RUTHMANN counts on a modular system to produce as many modules as possible in a particular class. For example, the RÜSSEL® (jib) including work basket, the COCKPIT control and the special features possibilities are for all modules of the HF class the same. In case of the base frame, the jacks and the rotation devices, the modular system goes even one step further, because RUTHMANN can use these assembly units even in an overlapping way for the complete HEIGHT performance-class. So the basic frame of a T 720 is structural identical with a T 750 HF. Based on this equality, RUTHMANN can increase the lot sizes in the production and use great benefits throughout the supply and logistics chain.

The modular design also has customer benefits in the after-sales segment. For example, customers who have multiple HEIGHT performance-models only need to train their staff in maintenance and care for one model, .Not to mention the advantages of the same operation and control of all models of HEIGHT performance-classes, which the operatocan make use of.

Endless useful accessories

A great range of optional features is possible for the latest HEIGHT performance-STEIGER ®''s: Hybrid drive, support ambient lighting, folding seat for the user in the work basket, TV camera holder, lift-up system, material winch, diverse heating systems at the work basket or using the telescopic boom with the hyCLEANER adapter – practically all is possible. Standard options, as underlays at supports and box structures on the load area naturally belong to it as well.

Along with the new models, customers can look forward to the lockable box at the rear of the STEIGER ®. Mounted underneath the platform, the operator can stow or take away equipment that is constantly required, such as Personal Safety Equipment (PSE) and tools, easily and protected from weather conditions.

Overall, these achievements document the RUTHMANN slogan ‘(R)EVOLUTION’ as well, which can and should also be read as RUTHMANN EVOLUTION. The responsible persons implemented creative ideas, using ongoing developments, embossed by experience, product innovations that offer true ADDED value for customers.

Selection range in abundance

With more than 220 (October/2016) HEIGHT performance-units since its introduction in 2012, the STEIGER ® class of RUTHMANN is probably the world's most successful in the range of truck mounted large appliance aerial platforms.
Even before the current expansion stage, which RUTHMANN named as ‘highflex’, customers and interested parties could choose from the largest selection of all suppliers. RUTHMANN emphasizes that all models in the class have been manufactured in modular design with much common parts.
This brings significant advantages for customers and users in product overlapping operating convenience and with the service of the equipment, for example by high parts availability. The two new highflex models connect here and complement the existing nine HEIGHT performance-STEIGER ®'s that cover now total working heights between 38 m to 75.
