24 kW Hoist Motor – Upgrade

Linden Comansa is excited to announce a novelty with regard to the 24 kW hoist motor, the standard of our cranes with maximum load capacity of 6 and 8 tons: models 11LC90 6t, 11LC132 6t, 11LC150, 11LC160, 16LC185 8t, and the luffer LCL165 8t.

From October 1st 2016, all cranes equipped with this hoist winch will be upgraded with a new motor with closed loop control, which offers the same benefits in terms of power and speed, but adds new advantages:

- As a closed loop motor, it features a sensor (‘Encoder’) which records the rotation speed of the motor and sends this information back to the inverter. In this way, the inverter can check and regulate the rotation speed more effectively. Also, if detects a significant imbalance between the consigned speed and the real speed, the inverter can stop the motor as a safety measure. – This system allows greater control of the hoist movement in low speeds, providing more precision to the crane operator. – The life of the inverter is longer, as this system allows the inverter to have a better management of the power that is supplied to the motor. – The motor is constructively closed, improving the degree of protection from IP23 to IP55 according to the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission. The  closed motor prevents the entry of water and dirt, which allows a longer motor life and the decrease of maintenance works. – The new motor also features a forced ventilation system to avoid overheating, which only turns on when the motor reaches high temperatures.

This new motor can be installed in cranes that were equipped with the previous motor, although the change will require the reprogramming of the inverter and the modification of the wiring between the motor and the switch cabinet. The cranes that are equipped with the new closed loop motor will already feature these changes from the factory.
