A well-received new concept plus satisfied exhibitors at Elmia Agriculture 2016

Elmia Agriculture 2016 was the launch of the Swedish agriculture industry’s new national arena. The event met industry expectations and was much appreciated.

This will be really good when the concept has had a chance to get established. We’ve had a great response,” said Britt-Marie Jafner of Växa AB, one of the exhibitors.

This year’s Elmia Agriculture (Elmia Lantbruk) presented the entire breadth of the industry. The fair offered a packed programme of events with everything from field machinery to a national show of 130 beef cattle. Other highlights were theme tours led by expert guides, innovation workshops, seminars and the Elmia Agriculture Innovation Award, which showcased and rewarded 11 innovations.

The industry’s distributors are currently undergoing a restructuring, which also made this fair the right place at the right time for the new groupings to be presented.

One of those to appear in a new guise was the Austrian manufacturer Pöttinger. It previously worked through Swedish distributors but recently launched its own sales company in Sweden.

“The fair went better than expected for us – our stand was filled with people for three days,” commented Nils Ahlstrand, head of Swedish operations for Pöttinger Scandinavia ApS, which had a flying start for its new organisation.

The day before the fair featured yet another addition to the line-up: Elmia Agriculture Future Forum. The conference was a meeting place where future issues in agriculture were discussed and the latest experiences and research results were presented to the industry.

This concept also turned out well. The two days offered high-class seminars and participants had the chance to listen to experts in various fields and pose pointed questions to decision makers.

“Our work to create the new national arena for agriculture has succeeded,” commented Elmia Agriculture project manager Jonas Bentving. “When the industry changes, the leading specialist fair must also develop with it.”

The Elmia Agriculture Exhibition will return on 24–26 October 2018. But the next conference, Elmia Lantbruk Framtidsforum (Elmia Agriculture Future Forum) will already be held again next year, on 24–25 October 2017. As a separate event, the forum will enable participants to focus all their attention on acquiring new knowledge and exploring future issues. The Elmia Agriculture Innovation Award for 2017 will be presented at the same time.

Elmia Agriculture 2016 had 17,867 visitors.
