On 18th March, the Council approved the Critical Raw Materials Act, the final step in the adoption of the legislation. The CRMA aims to ensure EU access to a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials, such as lithium and cobalt, while reducing dependence on individual supplier countries. The CRMA comprises five key pillars, including the strengthening of domestic supply chains and the promotion of a more sustainable and circular critical raw materials economy. This opening of new opportunities represents a crucial stage for the European mining industry.

A large share of Europe's competitiveness in this field comes from the OEMs delivering innovative, cutting-edge technology and machinery for sustainable mining. Indeed, the launch of CECE Mining has been to fill the void in the representation of these OEMs and respond directly to the implementation of the CRMA. Therefore, it is important that the discussion on this legislation keeps going! We are hosting a tailored event to further examine the CRMA, the opportunities for the mining industry and the role that equipment plays in sustainable mining practices. The event will feature speakers presenting how the critical raw materials value chain is being addressed in France, as well as a spotlight on OEM efforts to contribute to sustainable mining through equipment. Don't miss this opportunity to join the dialogue and ask your questions to the panellists.

For further information, please consult the event programme. We are excited to announce that we will be welcoming speakers from the European Commission and the French Government.
