  • Renault Trucks and EMPL Fahrzeugwerk GmbH collaborated to create the innovative Renault Trucks K 520 for Dietrich Trucks, tailored to their specific towing and recovery needs.

  • The Renault Trucks K 520 features an 8x4 axle configuration, Bison EH / W200 body type, and a recovery arm with an extra-flat underride lift, capable of handling vehicles from 3.5 to 60 tonnes GVW.

  • Equipped with off-road suitable transmission, differential locks, hill start and descent assist, the K 520 is designed for efficient vehicle recovery and towing.

  • Dietrich Trucks, expressing satisfaction with their service partnership with Renault Trucks, highlights the demand for Renault Trucks vehicles in their fleet, including the Master, T series, and a custom 6x2 T series with a loading crane.

  • The K 520 boasts high ground clearance, large slope angle, dual 20-tonne cable winches from Sepson, and a CAN bus system for superstructure control and monitoring, ensuring stability and efficiency in recovery operations.

  • Joel Otte of Dietrich Trucks emphasizes the project's value at 500,000 euros, attributing its success to the strong support and partnership with Renault Trucks, underscoring the vehicle's robustness and reliability for towing and recovery tasks.

The Renault Trucks service partner Dietrich Trucks in Wenden builds innovative towing and recovery vehicles. The Renault Trucks K 520 was specially built by Renault Trucks and EMPL Fahrzeugwerk GmbH to Dietrich's specifications and is the first and only vehicle of its kind.

The Renault Trucks K 520 was built by Renault Trucks and EMPL according to Dietrich's specifications and then was retrofitted by the service partner. This makes it the first ever towing and recovery vehicle of this type. The vehicle with the 8x4 axle configuration, with the Bison EH / W200 body type and a recovery arm with an extra-flat underride lift for vehicles from 3.5 to 60 tonnes GVW, is equipped with a transmission with off-road suitability as well as differential locks, hill start and descent assist and is therefore perfectly suited to recovering or towing other vehicles.

"We are very satisfied with the service partnership with Renault Trucks. We are also a towing and recovery service ourselves and deal in specialised vehicles for this sector," says Joel Otte, Head of Sales at Dietrich Trucks. "The demand for Renault Trucks is high: in addition to the Renault Trucks K 520, we also have Renault Trucks Master and the T series in our fleet as towing and recovery vehicles. We also have a Renault Trucks T as a 6x2 version with a loading crane under construction."

The Renault Trucks K 520 has a high ground clearance and a large slope angle. The vehicle has two cable winches from the manufacturer Sepson, each with a pulling force of 20 tonnes, which are installed on the main arm with the pulling direction at the rear. With a support system both at the rear and on the right-hand side of the vehicle, the vehicle is prepared for a stable vehicle position during recovery work. The Renault Trucks K 520 also has a CAN bus system for controlling and monitoring the entire superstructure. The vehicle has an approved gross combination weight of 80 tonnes.

"The entire project has a total value of 500,000 euros," continues Joel Otte. "Something like this is only possible for us with the good support and partnership that we have with Renault Trucks."

The unique selling points of the Renault Truck K are both robustness and reliability. As a result, this vehicle is particularly suitable for towing and recovering other vehicles.
