RUTHMANN ECOLINE RS 240: the top model in the „low budget“-product line

RUTHMANN is presenting the ECOLINE RS 240 at Intermat trade show in Paris. With a working height of 23,6 m, the ECOLINE RS 240 is the top model in the thrifty, “low budget”-product line.

This truck-mounted articulating boom lift was designed and developed with customers in mind.  RUTHMANN’s previous “low budget” -models did not exceed the 20-m limit. The international market, however, required an economical alternative with greater working height on a 3.5 t chassis. A customer need which RUTHMANN and its Italian subsidiary RUTHMANN Italia S.r.l. took to heart and promptly responded to.

Overview of the most significant advantages of the ECOLINE RS 240:

Let’s start at the bottom. The horizontal/vertical support mechanism is fully variable. The swiveling range of the turret can optionally be increased from 360° to 440° (2 x 220°). The articulating telescopic boom system – typical for models in this category – is extremely sturdy because it is made of fine-grained steel. The large, standard aluminum basket (1.3 m x 0.7 m in size) can rotate 90° and comes with a 230 V power supply. The top-quality Hetronic control system provides safe, easy, and intuitive handling. End-position cushioning of the upper boom and the automatic start-stop function of the vehicle’s motor, nicely round off the many features found on the new and exciting ECOLINE RS 240.

The “home” function and automatic set-up/retraction mechanism are among the other features optionally available.

The RUTHMANNECOLINE RS 240 – when mounted on a 3.5 t Nissan Cabstar chassis, for example – is just 6.91 m long and 2.55 m high. It is therefore ideal for assignments in cramped inner city conditions. However, because of the short overhangs in the front and rear of the vehicle – resulting in larger approach/departure angles – the RS 240, in a sense, can also be characterized an off-road vehicle.

The ECOLINE RS 240 also has an extraordinary 250-kg basket load capacity. The lateral outreach is an amazing 11.4 m at 100 kg, 9.1 m at 200 kg, and 8.3 m at 250 kg.

RUTHMANN has equipped the ECOLINE RS 240 with features that had previously only been available on premium STEIGER® models.

The patented “Easy Stabilizing System” is particularly noteworthy.  The core concept of the EASY Stabilizing System is the hydraulic combination of two supports (at axle height) to one unit. All four vertical supports can be lowered to the ground with just three levers.

By activating just one lever, the rear support unit is evenly extended to balance the longitudinal tilt of the vehicle. The second lever is activated to level the vehicle sideways. By extending a vertical support at the front, the EASY Stabilizing System automatically engages the rear supports.
Another high tech security feature is the „Secondary Guarding System“ (this system is protecting the operators against the risk of entrapment.

As first manufacturer of truck-mounted aerial platforms, RUTHMANN developed a Secondary Guarding System protecting the operators against the risk of entrapment.

The rubber switch strip placed in front of the control panel effects, as secondary protection system, an interruption of the movements of the aerial platform. The stop is initiated through a pressure on the switch strip. Afterwards, only movements in the opposite direction are possible. If the switch strip remains pressed, for example in the event that the operator is not able to free himself, a horn signal sounds in order to alert other people about this incident.  All movements will be carried out at low speed in order to free the stuck person.
