JCB introduces improved features and equipment for work hungry JCB TM320 and TM320S telescopic wheeled loaders

JCB today launches new versions of the TM320 and TM320S telescopic wheeled loaders with increased productivity, lower running costs and improved equipment and convenience for the operator. They comply with the latest engine emissions rules with no additional servicing requirements to add to running costs.

New or improved features on these popular heavy-duty loaders include:

TM range

The JCB TM320 and TM320S are the two biggest capacity machines in a four-model range of articulated telescopic wheeled loaders, which also includes two compact machines with lift capacities of 1800kg and 2200kg.

The larger models have 3200kg of lift capacity, which is available at full lift height of 5.2m as well as from ground level, and 1750kg of lift at full forward reach 2.95m ahead of the front wheels.

The TM320 is ideal for general farm loading and re-handling operations. It has a 4.4-litre version of the award-winning JCB EcoMAX engine developing 93kW (125hp), a six-speed JCB Powershift transmission with 40kph gearing, torque lock-up direct drive in fourth to sixth gear and a load-sensing hydraulics output of 140-litres/min.

Differences in the powertrain and hydraulics give the TM320S higher performance for especially demanding workloads and greater climbing and towing ability. This model has a 4.8-litre version of the JCB EcoMAX engine developing 108kW (145hp), a six-speed JCB Powershift transmission with torque lock-up direct drive from gear two, and 14% more peak oil flow at 160-litre/min.

On both machines, the JCB Powershift transmission can be operated in automatic mode or manually using the traditional left hand lever by operating the shift and forward-reverse selector switches conveniently mounted on the Servo joystick.

Tier 4 Final

In both cases, the JCB EcoMAX engine meets EU Stage IV / US Tier 4 Final emissions compliance, achieved with the addition of JCB’s own highly-efficient selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system but, importantly, without a costly diesel particulate filter (DPF) to compromise the engine installation and potentially add to machine servicing costs.

“This is a proven solution that we introduced on our Loadall telescopic handlers for Europe earlier this year,” said Tim Burnhope. “It’s a very compact installation that makes efficient use of AdBlue without detracting from the engine’s excellent power, torque and fuel consumption characteristics.”

A new hydraulic reversible cooling fan option is available that provides a choice of reversing intervals to suit different situations, as well as manual activation to purge the cooling pack of dust and debris when necessary.

Improved hydraulics

As standard, the new TM loaders also get improved cylinder end damping to further refine the operating experience when the telescopic section of the boom is fully extended and to match the existing levels of refinement evident when the boom is retracted and lowered.

The Auto Smooth Ride System boom suspension option continues unchanged with a three-way switch to select off, on and auto engage/disengage at 6kph.

But the auxiliary hydraulics system controls have been revamped for more informed operation – the venting switch in the cab now indicates when this feature is available, the operator activates the system by pressing and holding the venting switch while moving the auxiliary hydraulics roller switch, and a buzzer sounds as the hydraulic pressure is reduced. The venting feature makes it easy to connect hose couplings on attachments such as forks and buckets using a third service.

Extra lighting

An additional two LED lamps positioned on the cab ‘A’ pillars and projecting to either side can be added to the eight-lamp LED option for complete 360 degree illumination around the TM telescopic wheeled loaders, while an LED lamp mounted on the tow hitch mirror makes it easier to line-up to a trailer in the dark.

Wheels and tyres

The JCB TM320 and TM320S are already available with a large choice of 24in traction grip tyres with 440mm to 500mm nominal widths but the new option of 460mm and 500mm Michelin Bibload tyres recognises the increased road travel involved in agricultural operations.

This block tread design runs more smoothly on the road with less noise and vibration being transmitted into the operator’s cab and it is more resistant to hard surface wear, making the tyre ideal for machines used mainly for yard work, with good traction, lateral grip and self-cleaning characteristics.

Enhanced cab

A new full colour instrument display is one of several detail enhancements in the spacious centrally-mounted cab, providing information and warnings in a clearer at-a-glance format. Daily checks for engine oil, coolant and washer fluid levels are now completed from the driver’s seat during engine start-up, saving precious time – and ensuring the checks are carried out as a matter of routine.

Visibility from the cab is further improved by an updated door design and larger right-hand rear quarter window, and the right-hand door can be propped partly open for fresh air ventilation or fully folded back.

There is a new dedicated storage area in the right-hand footwell and the larger capacity filters in the high volume air conditioning system reduce downtime as they do not have to be serviced as often. Further time-saving comes from fitting harder wearing bronze graphite bearings, which extend the chassis pivot and boom greasing interval to 500 hours.

Twin flashing beacons and a rear view camera with colour display can be fitted, and an immobiliser key option complements the theft deterrence provided by JCB LiveLink and CESAR database registration.
