Komatsu Ltd. (President and CEO: Komatsu Ltd. (President and CEO: Tetsuji Ohashi) has recently expanded its series of super-large electric dump trucks for use in mines around the world by launching the 980E-4 model (rated payload: 369 tons), Komatsu's largest model.

Komatsu America Corp.(KAC) has developed the 980E-4 by incorporating the quality and the reliability accumulated by Komatsu's previous largest model, 960E-2, and its flagship 930E-4. KAC's Peoria Manufacturing Operation (Illinois, USA) manufactures and delivers the 980E-4 to mines all around the world.

Today, demand for mining equipment has nose-dived against the backdrop of economic slowdowns in emerging countries and slack commodity prices. However, Komatsu anticipates that the demand will increase in the long range, supported by the increasing global population and rate of urbanization. Mining companies are promoting the development of large-scale mines and streamlining their mine management. By adding the 980E-4, the largest model, to its series of super-large dump trucks, Komatsu expects that the 980E-4 will be best matched with the PC8000 hydraulic excavator, its largest excavator model, thereby helping customers further improve their productivity.

By continuing to provide DANTOTSU products, services and solutions to customers, Komatsu is determined to make contributions for significant improvement of their jobsite safety and productivity, thereby working to become their indispensable partner.
