For the cranes division of Atlas GmbH, headquartered at Ganderkesee in the north of Germany, 2016 has been a very busy year of trade fairs – rich in both variety and success – and ending with IAA. The conclusion after nine exhibition days (one day less than usual): more class than mass, more trade professionals than “spectators”, and a high proportion of international visitors. The ideal location of the fair stand and its attractive design offered pleasant surroundings for diverse discussions with customers, dealers and interested visitors from many parts of the globe around the displayed loader cranes. Despite the difficult trading conditions in some economic sectors, ATLAS managed to close sales, which will contribute to the utilization of our production capacity until the end of the year, and several decisions on the closure of several business deals are still pending.

IAA is, however, not just a pure sales fair; this show is a good place to establish new contacts, which is just as important for ATLAS as we endeavor to expand our global dealer network. To this end, we met with very promising potential representatives from both Europe and further afield.

The weekend at IAA usually belongs to the families; many parents came with their children to gaze at the latest technology and take home promotional gifts as souvenirs. To get an impression of the fair, please visit our website www.atlasgmbh.com to view the photographs.

All ATLAS cranes are manufactured in the Delmenhorst factory – almost 100 years of proven quality “Made in Germany” – and the following products were presented to the professional audience:

The AK 66.3 E is a 62kNm-class folding crane with up to four hydraulic extensions, negative boom angle, and a lifting capacity of 360 kg at its maximum outreach of 11 meters. At an outreach of 1.74 meters, the crane lifts an impressive 2.83 tons.

With the AK 66.3 E, the customer benefits from the advantages of the negative boom angle, which means even in very difficult operating environments that require extreme maneuverability in the tightest spaces, the load can be set down or picked up very precisely. This makes the crane extremely versatile, agile and when coupled with the sensitive ergonomic radio remote control almost everything is possible.

Contrary to competing products in this size-class, the tough and durable AK 66.3 E is already designed for applications with light grabs. When working on construction sites, this advantage pays off by providing the fastest possible working cycles.

In addition, the AK 66.3 E is equipped with wear-free sensors, which reliably monitor the processes of the safety features in accordance with EN12999. Due to the optional wide stabilizer widths, it can be used on relatively small trucks and also on larger vehicles with a very short support width – so in every scenario, safe and stable operation is guaranteed.

All cranes of the E series come with a comprehensive package of safety and comfort features for more efficient and comfortable operation; this lets the operator focus on his work instead of on complex machine operations and adjustments. In addition, ATLAS offers a wide range of optional features for these cranes in order to adapt them individually to many varied applications; among others, these features include “automatic folding” which is available at a moderate surcharge.

All of this simply makes the AK 66.3 E a true all-rounder. The feature “automatic folding” previously mentioned allows unfolding and folding of the crane by the push of a button on the HBC radio remote control. This automatic folding system prevents damage to the driver’s cab, which might happen if the crane is operated negligently – and, as a “byproduct”, the system will also save time.

This feature is available for all crane types equipped with HBC radio remote controls.

The model AK 152.3 is a crane of the medium size class – 151 kNm. At the maximum outreach of 16.6 meters, it is capable of lifting loads of 510 kg. The crane also has a maximum lifting capacity of 5,820 kg at a minimal outreach of 1.92 meters. ATLAS designed this loader crane with up to 6 hydraulic extensions, consistent with the requirements of the current markets. These new models have a maximum stabilizer width of up to 7.4 meters. Due to the negative boom angle, they have a larger and very flexible working range. The special advantage of ATLAS cranes is that, when working under difficult conditions, they give you the flexibility of fully proportional stabilizer monitoring, meaning your always safe and stable during operation, even with only one stabilizer extended. In addition, the AK 152.3 – like all ATLAS cranes – is equipped with wear-free sensors, which reliably monitor the processes of the safety features in accordance with EN12999.

Premiere at IAA – a new crane made by ATLAS: The 152 is now also available as a “V” or longboom crane, meaning it does not fold and travels over the bed of the truck. The loader crane model 152.3 is in the size-class of 154 kNm; the outreach of this long-boom crane is almost 11 meters and it provides a lifting capacity of 1,300 kg at this reach.

Just like almost all ATLAS cranes, this model can be fitted with various control options, like for example top seat, dual ground level controls, single or twin high-level platforms, or radio remote controls. With a stabilizer width of up to 7.4 meters, secure and stable operation is guaranteed even when the crane is used on lighter vehicles. This supplements our already successful and proven range of V cranes by another model from the 3rdgeneration.

The durable and dependable model 172.3E was further enhanced by adding the variants A5 and A6 for even more impressive reach and performance. With a stabilizer width of up to 7.4 meters, this is an all-rounder, suitable even for lighter vehicles. Like almost all ATLAS cranes, the 172.3 model can be fitted with a wide range of tools at the tip of the jib, like turnable forks, grabs, brick stack grapples, as well as various cable winches for special installation work, to name but a few.

The ATLAS 206.3 VE A12 is a 203 kNm class, “V” or long-boom crane. The maximum outreach of this long-boom crane is over 11 meters, where it still provides a lifting capacity of 1750 kg at this reach. Due to the use of special high-tensile steels, we achieved an exceptionally lightweight structure, which significantly increases the payload of the truck, meaning more product and improved return on investment. This crane is equipped with a radio remote control as a standard feature, but it is also available with various control options, like top seat, dual ground level controls, and single or twin high-level platforms. With a stabilizer width of up to 7.4 meters, secure and stable operation is guaranteed even when the crane is used on lighter vehicles. In addition, various stabilizer variants are available giving payload improvement where an extra wide stabilizer spread is not required; outreaches and lifting capacities range from 5.90

Contact for media information ATLAS GmbH: ute.gantenberg@atlasgmbh.com 5 / 11 meters/3.2 tons through 14.3 meters/1.05 ton, and with mechanical extension up to 16.3 meters/0.85 ton can be achieved.

The 206.3 is also available as a folding crane with negative boom angle. This model is available in variants A2 through A8, meaning a maximum outreach of almost 21 meters and a lifting capacity of 450 kg at that huge reach.

TheAK 332.3 has a lifting classification of 332 kNm and an outreach of 21 meters, providing a lifting capacity of 830 kg at this reach. Furthermore, this crane can easily be supplemented by a 3- or 4-fold Z boom system. In combination with the negative boom angle, it can also work through factory doors and multi-story building windows. With its sensitive, proportional controls, it is a master of many difficult tasks. The crane has a stabilizer width of up to 7.4 meters, which can easily be complimented with auxiliary stabilizers making it suitable for mounting on lighter trucks.

With their new line of smallT cranes from the T15 up to the T33 ATLAS covers the lifting torque ranges from 14 kNm through 32 kNm with hydraulic outreaches from 2.08 through 5.36 meters. On all T cranes, the hydraulic outreach can be increased even further by mechanical extensions. As a matter of course, various stabilizer variants are available as well as various control options. This means that the T15 lifts 1,300 kg at 1.16 meters and at 4.00 meters still an impressive load of 350 kg T18 lifts 1,500 kg at 1.16 meters and at 4.00 meters still an impressive load of 420 kg T23 lifts 1,800 kg at 1.20 meters and at 4.20 meters still an impressive load of 500 kg T33 lifts 2,500 kg at 1.30 meters and at 5.36 meters still an impressive load of 550 kg

All these small and versatile cranes can be operated hydraulically or electrically with 12V, 24V or 230/400V, so that they can be used on a light pick-up truck as well as on larger vehicles or even stationary in a factory or mounted on a boat.

Even for this range of small cranes, ATLAS differentiates between EU and NON-EU versions – everything is possible. Customer vehicles fitted with ATLAS loader cranes supplemented our exhibits. We would like to thank our dealers and customers for making their vehicles available for the show.
