The 100,000th Lely Lotus Tedder marks a milestone in grass harvesting

Dairy farmer Frank van der Schriek from Den Hout, bought a Lely Lotus Tedder for the upcoming grass season. Little did he know that this was to be the 100,000th Lely Lotus Tedder that Lely has produced in the forage harvesting machine factory in Maassluis. For the occasion, Alexander van der Lely personally handed this machine to its new owner on Friday 1 April 2016. This marks a milestone as much for the manufacturer as for the dairy farmer.

The Van der Schriek family were ceremoniously welcomed for a tour and to be presented with their new Lely Lotus tedder in the Lely factory in Maassluis. They got an exclusive tour around the factory and through the production lines, and an explanation on the history of Lely’s products, including the special Lely Lotus hook tine, which celebrated its 50-year anniversary in 2015.

The new tedder is an investment in the future of this family from Brabant’s dairy farm. The proud dairy farmer expects to enjoy the capacity and speed provided by his new machine for many years to come. “With the Lotus tedder, I can handle even wet and heavy crops and still offer the best quality feed with the correct dry matter content to my cows”.

For many years already, the Lely Lotus tedder with its special hook tine has stood for quick, neat and secure results that have delighted thousands of farmers all over the world. Proof of this is the fact that the 100,000th tedder has now come out of the factory, an occasion that Lely is definitely celebrating!

In his speech, Alexander van der Lely emphasised the importance of efficient and sustainable grassland machines. “Our clients need robust machines with a high capacity and an optimal result because they are always working under pressure from weather conditions. Harvesting the best quality crops in a short period of time to ensure good feed efficiency is the trick to delivering the best end result”.
