Argus Twin receives prestigious award at Great Yorkshire Show

Of course, any twin disc fertiliser broadcaster needs to be set up correctly for each type of fertiliser that goes through it and most growers will use the annual tray test to ascertain what those settings are for the season. However, what happens if the quality of the product being spread alters from bag to bag or the wear and tear on the spreader starts to play a part in the accuracy of the machine? Even topography can affect the distribution of the fertiliser and these factors are outside of the normal testing routine.

The new Argus Twin system from AMAZONE has the potential to offer huge peace of mind as the spread pattern of the ZA-TS is being constantly monitored for accuracy and if necessary, adjusted on the move, fully-automatically, to ensure the perfect spread pattern, hour in, hour out. 7 radar sensors per disc constantly oversee the spread pattern as the fertiliser leaves the disc and this relative throwing direction of the fertiliser is assessed and calculated with the ISOBUS terminal sending a signal to the spreader to readjust if the pattern is identified as being wrong.

It is for this type of cutting-edge technology that the Yorkshire Agricultural Society introduced the White Rose What's Next award, and now in its second year, the cup at the 2016 Great Yorkshire Show has gone to the Argus Twin system. At the show, Mr. Geoff Brown, from Amazone dealer Ripon Farm Services, very proudly received the impressive rose bowl from Mrs J. Penty (pictured).

Trevor Brocklesby, local Amazone territory manager, was also there at the presentation and, on receiving such a prestigious award, commented ‘This technology is really the last piece to put in the spreading jigsaw. These days weighing systems constantly look after the calibration whereas GPS-based mapping systems adjust the spread rate to apply fertiliser only where necessary. SectionControl now gives us automatic stepless shut-off of the spreading width as we come in and out of our headland tramlines and so that just leaves us with the spread pattern to keep an eye on. Argus Twin gives us now colossal confidence in knowing that all is as it should be’.
