Following the delivery of two self-propelled telescopic Genie® S™-65 TraX boom lifts earlier this year, authorized Genie distributor HDW recently provided Barnfeld-based Van den Brink Platform and Crane Hire with four more track-mounted boom lift models including two Genie® S™-45 TraX, and two Genie® S™-40 TraX units.
Van den Brink ordered all six machines following a ‘Genie TraX Tour’ - a local initiative and European premiere organized by HDW, which enabled its customers country-wide to discover the capabilities of all four Genie S-TraX machines at close quarters.
As the company’s Managing Director, Gert Van den Brink, explains: “The first two Genie TraX booms we purchased received such enthusiastic feedback from our customers that we decided to broaden our offering to include other models providing different weight and range of motion.”
Effectively, thanks to their innovative “four-point” track drive system with oscillating axle, Genie S-Trax track-mounted boom lifts are a step ahead of other ‘skid-steer’ designs. Combining the benefits of enhanced traction and increased power and torque with the drive and steer capabilities of a wheeled machine, this unique system is particularly well-suited to work on heavy, rough and inclined outdoor surfaces.
“In the Netherlands the ground is generally soft whatever the season. Thanks to their low ground pressure and excellent terrainability, Genie S-TraX machines avoid the damage caused by tyre-mounted machines on damp, soft or hard surfaces, including fragile paving stones. As a result they are under high demand for outdoor applications in our region all year round,” says Gert. “Their “four-point” track drive system featuring an oscillating axle also makes them much smoother to work with than other track-mounted designs which explains why our operators rate them so highly for comfort.”
Among the four new Genie S-TraX units that Van den Brink recently added to its fleet, the S-40 TraX boom lift – a lighter-weight version of its sister model, the S-45 Trax - is assembled without a jib to combine the high terrainability common to all Genie S- TraX boom lifts, in a machine that weighs a little more than 6500 kg.
About the Genie® self-propelled telescopic S™-TraXTM boom lift series
Specially designed for work in deep, heavy, rough or steeply inclined conditions, all four models of the Genie S-TraX boom lift series feature the Genie “four-point” TraX track drive system that combines the benefits of increased terrainability and a gradeability up to 45 degrees with those of a self-propelled telescopic boom. A step ahead of conventional ‘skid steer’ designs, the innovative Genie S-TraX track drive and “four-point” track drive system with oscillating axle also offer the advantages of a thirty-degree front steer angle to provide users with the precision, manoeuvrability, and smooth drive and steer abilities of a wheeled machine.
Featuring four independent triangular rubber tracks that swivel independently up to 22 degrees to adapt to tough work on uneven terrain, mud, sand, gravel or snow, this system significantly reduces ground pressure to prevent leaving deep track marks in sensitive surfaces. Well-suited to a wide range of outdoor applications, the models of the Genie S-TraX boom lift series offer working heights ranging from 14.20 m to 21.80 m, a horizontal outreach ranging from 9.65 to 17.10 m, machine widths from 2.24 to 2.59 m and a lift capacity of up to 227 kg.
