RUGGED VERSATILITY: THE UPGRADED TEREX® QUADSTAR 1100 ROUGH TERRAIN CRANE MAKES AN APPEARANCE AT CONEXPO

Las Vegas, USA, March 3rd, 2014 – After introducing the Quadstar 1100 rough terrain crane early in 2013, Terex Cranes is showcasing the latest and improved version of the 100 t (110 US t) capacity class crane at Conexpo. With improved access and egress, increased flat & non skid surface on the deck and easier to service components, the latest edition of the Quadstar 1100 is an improvement on an already great machine.

“Our customers are demanding not only a high capacity rough terrain crane in the 110 US t range but also one that allow operators to work comfortably, and Terex delivers with the new Quadstar 1100.” says Dan Slater, vice president and general manager, Terex Cranes Waverly. “Besides longer reach and increased capacities, this new crane features an advanced hydraulic system and is the first Rough Terrain which features the new Terex cab.”

The Terex Quadstar 1100’s new hydraulic system advances efficiency and reliability, as electrohydraulic controls improve the operator-machine interface to deliver precise control over crane movements. “The system offers smooth simultaneous operation of multiple crane functions, including lifting and slewing, without sacrificing performance,” adds Slater. A variable displacement pump supplies oil flow to components only when required, saving wear and tear on the hydraulic system and improving overall fuel economy.

Drawing from decades of rough terrain crane design experience, the new Quadstar 1100 boasts a 47 m (155 ft) telescoping boom and a 72 m (235 ft) maximum tip height. It offers a maximum 100 t (110 US t) rated capacity at a 3 m work radius and 11 m boom length. The dual mode boom also accommodates an 2 section offsettable jib with pullout.

The Quadstar 1100 features the latest Terex operator’s cab, designed to boost productivity and comfort. Built around operator feedback, this functional cab repositions the electronics compartment to offer longer inside dimensions and provide more space for operators. Moreover, an infinitely variable tilt-up operator cab of up to 18° delivers improved vision of the work area. A redesigned air conditioning and heating system with individual air outlets maintain comfortable operating temperatures. An ergonomic, multi-adjustable seat with lumbar support, high back and arm rests helps to improve operator comfort and productivity.

The Terex Quadstar comes standard with a rated capacity limiter & control system, which offers intuitive operation and information.

This rough terrain crane’s six-speed powershift transmission automatically engages four-wheel drive in low-speed range to improve traction. The Quadstar 1100 offers a maximum speed of 30 km/h (18.7 MPH) , and exceptional gradeability, so it quickly and efficiently navigates even the most challenging terrain. Three steering modes – front only, all-wheel concentric or all-wheel crab – work to deliver a tight turning radius, so it nimbly navigates congested work areas.

Controlled from inside the operator’s cab, four independent hydraulic outriggers offer a stable platform for crane operation. The adaptable outriggers provide the option of three operating positions – fully retracted, partially extended or fully extended – to meet lifting needs and space requirements. With its standard 10.3 t (11.3 US t) upper structure counterweight and stable platform, the Terex Quadstar 1100 Rough Terrain Crane delivers solid performance throughout its entire lift range.
