Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has recently sustainably expanded its presence in Spain with diesel-electric Terex® Gottwald mobile harbour cranes. Since December 2015, the leading maritime industry group Ership S.A. (Ership) has put three Terex® Gottwald Model 6 mobile harbour cranes in the G HMK 6407 B four-rope-grab variant for professional bulk handling into operation. A fourth machine will follow in December 2016. The new cranes are to help Ership handle mainly grain, cereals and copper concentrate in different ports over Spain. Each crane is adapted to the particular needs and conditions of the respective terminal.

Short delivery time, high performance

The four G HMK 6407 B cranes feature 50-t grab curves, maximum lifting capacities of 100 t, up to 51 m outreach and maximum lifting speeds of 110 m/min. Carlos Nardiz, Agencies Director, Ership: “Our terminals are currently faced with the challenge of constantly raising our standards. The new cranes from TPS provide even higher performance and reliability compared to the Terex Gottwald Generation 4 cranes previously supplied, and will help us increase our handling rates in the long term. Moreover, the delivery time of the machines is particularly short, which enables us to respond quickly to the high number of customer inquiries for our bulk handling services.”

Business relationship started in 1997

Alfredo Cañibano, Senior Manager Sales and Service Mobile Harbour Cranes, TPS, explains: “To accelerate the commissioning of the mobile harbour cranes and provide high profitability from delivery on, the machines are fully assembled in Antwerp and then shipped to Spain where they can be put into operation quickly.” Cañibano, who is also delighted that a long-standing customer has yet again shown their trust in TPS by placing this new order, continues: “Ership is a leading player in an important bulk market. Our business relationship started in 1997 when we delivered the first HMK 300 EG mobile harbour crane to Huelva, Spain. Since then, they have regularly ordered further cranes to expand their bulk activities.”
