The CPM90 drives are part of a new, highly-integrated modular system, consisting of a permanent magnet brushless DC motor with integrated controller. It enables customer requirements to be implemented quickly and cost-efficiently. The system design allows for 4-quadrant operation, i.e. motor operation or generator operation – counterclockwise/clockwise rotation. This configuration is easily set with the click of a mouse. The drive’s maximum torque is 15Nm and its maximum power up to 6kW.

Another feature is the highly efficient design of the drive, making it much more compact and lightweight compared to the competition. Maximum efficiency of up to 90% is reached for both motor and electronics.

What is outstanding about the series, however, is the integrated performance and control electronics. For us, that means an integral development approach. And for the customer it means a drive system that saves both time and money. Selection and pairing of suitable motor and performance electronics is eliminated, as is otherwise necessary wiring. Simply apply voltage and connect the CAN bus and the drive is ready for operation. The drive electronics are designed for voltages from 24 to 72 V DC.

The motor controller can be controlled in an analog manner or via CAN bus. It enables torque control and speed control. In addition, it also provides information regarding such things as motor speed, position, power, voltage, currents and temperatures that can then be used for system diagnostics and improving efficiency. It can also take over additional tasks in the compound and control other motors. For these tasks, the controller also features additional analog in/outputs.

The brushless permanent magnet drive system also comes with operating and analytics SW. This software, designed as a graphic interface, allows for quick, efficient fine application work as well as function monitoring, fault diagnosis, remote maintenance and a simple SW update. The CPM90 is the smallest, most efficient, most powerful electric drive system in its class. It meets the highest standards in terms of quality, robustness and low maintenance. Developed in Germany, manufactured in Switzerland, validated for the automobile industry among others.
