Michelin has been chosen by the agricultural machinery manufacturer, New Holland, to equip its tractors, combine harvester and grape harvester at the Universal Expo Milan (Italy, 1 May – 31 October 2015), the theme of which is "Feeding the planet, Energy for Life".

With a world population of 7 billion today, forecast to rise to 9 billion in 2050, the planet is facing a major agricultural challenge: how to produce more food with less arable land.

Contributing to sustainable agriculture is an absolute necessity for the main players in the agricultural sector. As the leading world manufacturer of agricultural tyres with radial technology, Michelin is also a leader when it comes to innovation. MICHELIN Ultraflex technology, launched on the market in 2004, heralded a technological breakthrough with the advent of agricultural tyres operating at low pressure, thereby limiting soil compaction and thereby guaranteeing their lasting agricultural potential.

Michelin tyres are equipping four agricultural machines on show in the New Holland Sustainable Farm Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015. This partnership is the culmination of a long-lasting relationship. The Michelin and New Holland groups are two major players in the agricultural world, helping farmers the world over to reap maximum benefits from the technologies made available to them, and playing their part in developing sustainable agricultural practices. World leader in tyre innovation, Michelin recently unveiled the biggest tractor tyre in the world: the Michelin AxioBib 900/65 R46, with a diameter of 2.32 meters, for equipping another giant: the New Holland T9. New Holland can offer to their customers MICHELIN tyres on all their tractor range from the T4 (85 hp) to the T9 (565 hp).

To demonstrate its commitment to sustainable agriculture, New Holland is showcasing the T6 Methane Power prototype tractor on the Expo Pavilion’s roof and is testing it at the pilot Energy Independent Farm La Bellotta (Italy), where the agricultural machines are exclusively equipped with MICHELIN tyres.

Michelin is proud to have been acknowledged by New Holland for its contribution to sustainable agriculture, through its MICHELIN Ultraflex technology. MICHELIN Ultraflex technology was recognised last year by the British Harper Adams agricultural institute as being responsible for a 4% increase in agricultural yield (compared to conventional-technology radial tyres), through the reduced compaction of the soil.
