electrical energy storage 2012: The entire world of battery technology: from the raw material to the high-voltage battery

The Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Technische Universität München (TUM) is organizing the special show "battery production" at electrical energy storage (ees) trade fair. With support from Electrical Energy Storage Technology department and the Technical Electrochemistry department, the iwb will demonstrate the entire process for producing battery systems. The ees is taking place in parallel with electronica and hybridica trade fairs from November 13 - 16, 2012 in Munich.

In terms of performance data and production costs, batteries are still not able to compete with conventional drive systems. This is one of the reasons why electromobility has not been able so far to establish itself across the board. The special show "battery production" at ees addresses this issue and, in addition to current research topics, looks specifically at the design and application of battery systems. Visitors can also find out on system and product demonstrators how energy storage systems, which are then built into electric vehicles or pedelecs, for example, are produced from basic chemical substances.

A day before the trade fair starts, interested parties can already take part in the "Battery production – from the raw material to the high-voltage battery" seminar being held at the iwb in Garching. The participants will also have the opportunity to take part in guided tours of the special show. More detailed information can be found at: http://www.iwb.de/Seminar_Batterieproduktion

Supporting program
The VDMA (German Engineering Federation) Productronics and the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers) are organizing the forum at ees with a host of presentations and discussions. A special users' day will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012: The batteryuniversity.eu is organizing a basic training session in the morning on battery technologies, charging technology and lithium-ion batteries. These topics will then be dealt with in more depth in the afternoon at the expert forum.
