JCB COMPACT EXCAVATOR TAKES CONVENTIONAL APPROACH

JCB is launching its first conventional tail swing compact excavator in the 3.0 ton (6,600lb) North American market, with the launch of the 8029 CTS. Powered by a transverse 25hp (18.4kW) engine, the excavator has a tail swing just 18.5” longer than the 8025 ZTS zero tail swing machine. Despite these compact dimensions it boasts a 19% higher lift capacity and an incredible 82% improvement in lift capacity over the tracks.

Digging depth for the 8029 CTS is 10’ and the machine offers a load over height of 10’6”. Excellent bucket rotation and class-leading breakout force results in high productivity when digging, In addition the machine can be supplied with a wide range of JCB attachments, each specifically designed to work with the excavator’s powerful hydraulic system.

The compact excavator boasts a sturdy fabricated box boom design with a slim construction that provides excellent visibility to the digging area, improving productivity. All of dig end hoses are routed through the inside of the boom, offering excellent protection when digging in narrow trenches. Single side grease points have been introduced on the excavator arm pins, simplifying daily greasing for quicker and easier dig end maintenance.  A new undercarriage with three bottom rollers, plus one on top, coupled with heavy-duty idler guides, provides smooth travel across site and excellent tractive ability in tough site conditions. Tracking speed and tractive effort are both increased over the zero tail swing 8025 ZTS model.

 Operator Cab

The JCB compact excavator cab is one of the largest on the market, with a wide door opening for safe entry and exit. There is ample leg room thanks to a seat which can be adjusted a further 2.1” rearwards compared to the 8025 ZTS.  The cab floor is flat and easy to clean and flat glass has been maintained throughout for low cost replacement. The offset pedal is combined with the auxiliary on the right hand side of the cab floor. This maximizes the space available in the cab, providing unrestricted entry, and allows for easy cab floor cleaning.

 A new hydraulic valve with longer spools delivers smoother controllability, increased load holding capability and full power multi-function use while straight line tracking. All hydraulic services are disabled including the dig end joysticks, tracking levers, boom swing and auxiliary pedals when the left hand pod is raised for optimum safety, removing the risk of inadvertent operation of the machine.

 To ensure the rear of the 8029 CTS is among the strongest and most protected in the industry, JCB has opted for a solid cast counterweight, which will withstand the harshest of impacts and operating environments. New rubber cab mounts reduce vibration and cut internal noise levels to just 77dB(A). The entire cab structure is isolated from the swing motor frame to minimize vibration.
