LANXESS Presents Expanded Bayferrox Distribution Network at World of Concrete 2015

LANXESS, the world’s largest producer of iron oxide pigments, is emphasizing its commitment to being a sustainably operating and reliable supplier to the concrete industry at this year’s World of Concrete show.

The show marks the first appearance of OMYA, Inc., as a Bayferrox distribution partner, covering the western U.S. construction market. Covering the rest of the North American market, Cohills Building Specialties, Inc., E& A Supply Corp., and Empire Blended Distributors, Inc. are also representing LANXESS at the show.

“We are very happy that OMYA came on board in the fourth quarter of 2014, as our construction distributor for the west coast and Canada.  They have become a valuable member of our North American distribution network in a very short time,” says Peter Baldus, Head of Inorganic Pigments Group (IPG) Americas.

In terms of sustainability, LANXESS Inorganic Pigments is marking its second year as a SCS certified supplier, and is currently the only iron oxide pigments producer to qualify and offer SCS certification of its products to the market.  This means that recycled material makes up to 94 percent of the iron raw materials used in the production of its pigments.  Customers benefit from this certification by being able to earn points in the LEED process and supporting environmental sustainability.

The company is also on track to strengthen its global production network with the new pigment plant under construction in Ningbo, China.  In addition to being built to the latest environmental standards, the plant will have an initial annual synthesis capacity of over 20,000 metric tons.

LANXESS’ Bayferrox pigments offer high tinting strength, are extraordinarily lightfast and weather-stable, and are distinguished by their high quality and simple and environmentally compatible processing.  Available in powder, compact pigment and granular forms, they are used to color construction materials such as cast in-situ concrete, pre-case concrete components, concrete roofing tiles, pavers and asphalt.
