Liebherr presents robust and efficient XPower® wheel loader developed for demanding recycling-applications

At IFAT 2018, Liebherr presents the L 556 XPower®. Liebherr XPower® is an integrated, innovative machine concept that sets new standards in terms of fuel efficiency, performance, robust design and comfort. At the heart of the XPower® wheel loader is the Euro Stage IV / Tier 4f compliant power-split drivetrain, which Liebherr fits as standard for these machines. This combines hydrostatic drive, which is ideal for material uptake and travelling over short distances, with mechanical drive, the advantages of which come to the fore over long distances and when driving on gradients.

Representing the XPower® wheel loader concept, the L 556 XPower® will be on display at IFAT in Munich. The wheel loader offers a tipping load of 10,900 kg and comes with an operating weight of 21,700 kg. The exhibit is equipped with industrial linkage and a high-tipping bucket with a capacity of 4.5 m³. Its latest Stage IV / Tier 4f compliant Liebherr diesel engine provides a maximum gross output of 165 kW / 224 HP.

The rigorously tested Liebherr XPower® drivetrain represents robust design as it generates its power through the interaction of two different drive paths thereby distributing the load between the two and greatly extending the service life of the components. With targeted investments in the robustness of the axles and other components, such as the hydraulic cylinders, Liebherr ensures the consistently high reliability of the XPower® wheel loaders.

The designers have revised every aspect of the inside of the cab to provide a higher standard of comfort: Wide steps, a generously-dimensioned interior with sophisticated details, easy-to-access maintenance points plus large glazed surfaces and windows provide the utmost comfort and safety.
