Long-term partnership: With the 653 E Volker Stevin Materieel B.V. opts again for a SENNEBOGEN crane

Volker Stevin Materieel B.V. is a construction company based in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. Rob van den Boogaard, team leader cranes and operators at Volker Stevin Materieel, recently ordered the 653 E, and with that the sixth SENNEBOGEN machine via sales and distribution partner Van den Heuvel.


During its first mission, the telescopic crane was immediately confronted with special conditions: For a project in Groessen, in which the company was commissioned with the construction of gas pipelines, work had to be done under special circumstances. The construction site is located directly under a electricity pylon, so additional precautions had to be taken to prevent the load from moving outside the defined zones.

Perfectly suited for special requirements

"This is one of the advantages of the SENNEBOGEN 653 E. The machine can be equipped with a "virtual wall", which also makes it ideal for working under electricity pylons," says Rienk Nadema, Commercial Manager at Van den Heuvel. Thanks to the working area limitation, the operator receives a signal when the boom of the crane is in the turning area of another crane or obstacle. " On a screen in the cab, the operator receives information about the position of the boom in relation to the high-voltage cables," continues Nadema.

Flexible in use

Thanks to its robust construction, the SENNEBOGEN 653 E is also able to operate on rough terrain. Expired up to 20 degrees and slopes up to 4 degrees are no problem for this machine. The powerful boom, which is up to 30.4 m long and can be telescoped under load as a full-power boom, allows flexible use on any construction site. "The crawler tracks can be retracted, and then we can quickly move the machine to another location. During this work we sometimes have to cross a busy road to work on the other side. This crane is capable of this," explains Van den Bogaard.

The telescopic crawler crane is easy to transport and, in principle, ready for use as soon as it is unloaded from the low-loader. "The use of proven hydraulics and electrics and the largest possible elimination of electronic control components means that the technology remains reliable even in extreme situations," says Nadema.
