Mapal Green Energy shortlisted for energy award

Mapal Green Energy, developers of the innovative floating fine bubble aeration system (FFBA) for wastewater treatment, has been shortlisted for the 2015 Environment and Energy Awards taking place in Birmingham this April.

Nominees had to demonstrate to a panel of independent industry experts how their technology can and will improve both environmental impact and energy savings in their chosen sector of activity. With the AMP6 cycle now starting to have a real impact upon planning and decision making in the waste water sector and in particular with the focus now shifting to energy consumption and maintenance costs as key parts of the financial equation for the water utilities, the huge potential for energy savings which the Mapal FFBA system offers will have been a key factor in the judges’ decision to shortlist the company.

The potential for energy cost saving and lower maintenance bills offered by Mapal’s innovative  technology has already been recognised by Thames Water, United Utilities and Anglian Water,  all of whom are rolling out trials with the company. Amongst the Tier 1 consultants, both Xylem and Siemens have also recently signed agreements with Mapal to deploy their technology.

Mapal Green Energy CEO, Zeev Fisher, said:  “This is great news for all our customers and staff as we are now beginning to see the potential of our technology recognised more widely in our industry. With its ability to deliver significant energy cost  savings  and its promise of fast and safe retrofitting without any need to drain a rector,  our system is ideal in the context of the new Ofwat AMP6 cycle, with its focus shifting firmly to a total expenditure model.”
