  • Norwegian logistics provider Tyrholm & Farstad AS has ordered a Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Crane for their new Flatholmen terminal in Ålesund, aiming to expand capacity and reduce carbon emissions. The order was placed in Q3 2023, with delivery expected in Q2 2024.

  • The new crane, the first for the new terminal, is intended to extend Tyrholm & Farstad's business and meet local industry demands for logistics services. It will handle container and general cargo for the Møre og Romsdal region.

  • The Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald ESP.6 Mobile Harbor Crane features a working radius of up to 49m and a maximum capacity of 125 t, serving container ships up to Panamax class. It offers strong lifting capacity curves, improved handling rates, and a high classification for a long service life.

  • The crane operates fully electrically when connected to an external power supply, backed up by the Konecranes hybrid drive, which includes a modern diesel engine paired with an ultracapacitor that can be recharged by energy recovered from lowering and braking motions.

  • The order is part of Konecranes' EcoliftingTM initiative, which aims to decrease the carbon footprints of its customers through eco-optimizing diesel drives, hybridization, and fully-electrified fleets.

  • Konecranes' commitment to business growth, continuous improvement, investments in digitalization and technology, and work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety, make it a leader in the lifting industry.

  • The order also highlights the strength of Konecranes' long-term partnership with local partner AS BULL, and the popularity of Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor cranes in Norway.
