Terex AWP Announces New Paint Process Specific for Genie® Scissor Lifts at Coventry, UK Facility

As part of its continuous improvement plan, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation (NYSE:TEX), has made a major investment to improve the paint process at its scissor production facility in Coventry, England. Customers will benefit from this new paint process integrated into the production of the Genie® GS™-1530, -1532, -1930, -1932, -2632, -2032, -2046, -2646, -3246 and -4047 electric scissor lift models. This paint process meets the highly set Terex paint standard specification. All Terex® products have to be compliant to these standards but several processes are applied depending on product specification, product line, region, and other factors.

Improvements to the paint process includes a new washing treatment to prepare the equipment before applying paint and the paint itself.  The main technical advantages for our customers are cleaner components, better paint adhesion, and improved rust protection. The high resistant paint is very durable and the finish is better especially on custom colours.

“Listening to our customers and Team Members is what the Genie brand is all about,” said Neal Nowick, General Manager of the Terex Coventry factory. “On the whole this process is beneficial for our customers because it is helping to increase machine life and making the popular Genie blue colour last longer. Also, another advantage is faster custom painting service for customers who wish to utilize the colours of their own company branding.”

The Coventry facility manufactures the above mentioned Genie scissor lifts sold in the EMEAR region. Further changes recently implemented at the site also include notable mechanical cleaning improvements to remove carbon edges as a result of laser-cutting. New chemical pre-treatments are also being used to reinforce the adhesion of paint coatings to the machines’ bodywork giving long-term protectio.
