Terex Trucks in high demand in Northern Ireland

Terex Trucks’ new Northern Ireland dealer, Sleator Plant, is already seeing massive results with the sale of four Terex Trucks since its appointment only seven months ago.

Sleator Plant, based in Newtownabbey, was appointed official Terex Trucks distributor for Northern Ireland in May 2015. In just seven months the company has already well exceeded its target, with four Terex Trucks sales under its belt. Three Terex Trucks articulated haulers and one rigid have been sold to four customers in Northern Ireland.

Almost immediately following its appointment, Sleator Plant’s first Terex Trucks sale was to FP McCann, the UK’s largest manufacturer of concrete pipes. FP McCann took delivery of a new, 28 tonne capacity TA300 articulated dump truck in May 2015 and the truck is already hard at work, having clocked circa 950 hours. FP McCann has been a Sleator Plant customer for 12 years and the new TA300 joins four other Terex Trucks already in use in the fleet. Following delivery of the truck Sleator Plant organised for FP McCann drivers to receive a two-day training course run by Terex Trucks to ensure the company would receive the full benefit of the new generation truck, including the additional safety features and fuel economy saving.

“Terex Trucks has a great reputation and in just seven months we’ve seen a strong appetite for the trucks in Northern Ireland,” said Jonathan Campbell, general manager of Sleator Plant. “We go above and beyond to ensure our customers receive good value for money, which includes an extensive handover from an engineer to ensure our customers benefit from maximum performance of the machine, as well as a full brief on preventative maintenance.”

Off to a flying start with three further sales

The second company to purchase a new TA300 is Cookstown-based, JD Excavations. Founded in 2003, the company operates throughout Ireland and in the UK in earthworks and civil engineering sectors. JD Excavations has previous experience operating Terex Trucks and the new TA300 will be required for local engineering projects in Northern Ireland.

Sleator Plant’s first Terex Truck rigid hauler sale has gone to Quinn Building Products, based in County Fermanagh. The company has purchased a TR60 rigid dump truck for use in its quarry in Derrylin. Quinn Building Products has been excavating quality products since 1973, and the TR60 will join four other Terex Trucks already operated by the company.

Already operating nine Terex Trucks, Irish Salt Mining & Exploration Company Ltd. is one of the top five most successful companies in Northern Ireland. The company runs salt mines in Northern Ireland and Chile and has purchased a new, 38 tonne capacity TA400 articulated dump truck for use on the Irish salt mine. The mine produces half a million tonnes of de-icing rock salt per annum.

Sleator Plant provides aftersales and product support services from its extensive facilities in Glengormley, Ireland. In the last 12 months the company has invested heavily in its aftermarket offering, including the appointment of new senior engineer, Alistair McClintock, who has worked with Terex Trucks machines for many years.

“We’ve made significant investments to ensure we offer the highest standard of aftercare for our customers,” said Jonathan Campbell, general manager of Sleator Plant. “There is a huge population of Terex Trucks already operating in Northern Ireland that require good quality servicing. We’re dedicated to delivering five-star customer care and can be on-site within four hours.”

Sleator Plant is part of the Ballyvesey Holding group, which was established in 1970. The company specialises in the supply of machinery to the construction and material rehandling sectors. As part of the Ballyvesey Holding group, Sleator Plant has a strong partnership with sister company TDL, a key Terex Trucks dealer in the UK.
