Winner of the Bauma innovation award: the electric-wheel loader 5055e from Kramer

Customers are now spoilt for choice – fully electric or diesel-operated. Kramer will start offering a fully electric wheel loader starting in summer 2016. In addition to zero emissions, the loader convinces with its performance parameters, the off-road capability and low service costs.

The application of diesel-operated vehicles in buildings, on urban construction sites or in tunnels represents a particular challenge for the construction site operator. Thanks to the new fully electric drive of the Kramer 5055e, it is now possible to work indoors completely free of emissions. End users and the environment are protected by the zero emissions and extremely quiet noise level.

The 5055e not only scores with its economic advantages, but also with its high profitability. The initially high investment costs are amortized in no time by the significantly lower maintenance costs. Just like with all machines and vehicles, the usual maintenance intervals are to be complied with in any case. However, there is no maintenance of the engine and the machine's service is correspondingly shorter and therefore more price convenient. In addition, the price advantage of power compared to diesel fuel is significant.

In the size class of 0.55 m³ bucket capacity, Kramer is presenting the first fully electric wheel loader on the market with the 5055e. Performance parameters, off-road capability and operating comfort correspond to the conventional model. Kramer places a great deal of value on the coordination of elements and components to allow for precise driving. Two electric motors were installed for this purpose: one for the work hydraulics and one for the drive system. Depending on the application of the wheel loader, the power is demanded from the corresponding motor. This helps to keep the energy consumption as low as possible. The electric motor is operated by time-tested and proven lead acid batteries, which are used in the forklift industry. Depending on the area of application and utilization of the wheel loader, one battery charge suffices for a work operation of up to five hours.

The charge time of the machine is between three and six hours, depending on the options.

"We are delighted that the new Kramer electric loader has won its first award right upon the market launch. The Bauma innovation award is a prestigious award and recognizes our development work. We are certain that this product will make an important contribution to the resource conservation and efficiency increase of our customers," says Karl Friedrich Hauri, director at Kramer.

The Bauma innovation award honors sustainable and economic developments with a high practical advantage, which make a contribution to energy and resource efficiency or to the humanizing of the work environment. The innovation award is given in five categories: Machine, Component, Building/Building Methods, Research and Design. The jury gave Kramer the award in the Machine category.
