(Not) a question of the surface below – the Aebi VT450 Vario transporter now also with crawler track

Where vehicles with wheels reach the limits of their performance capacity or can simply no longer function, it comes into play  - the new Aebi VT450 Vario crawler. This innovation from Aebi feels at home on any surface with its crawler track.

Aebi catered for a wish expressed by many customers with the new crawler track for its range of transporters. Especially in particularly challenging mountainous regions, wheeled transporters are simply immobilised when there is snow or wet ground. Municipal services or transfers to mountain huts and cable car stations then often have to be cancelled. Until now.

A metre's worth of deep snow is now great fun to drive on. Cross-country ski trails or sledging runs can now be reliably maintained with appropriate attachments. Transfers to ski huts or mountain stations are also performed comfortably and efficiently with the Aebi VT 450 Vario with crawler track – and this is done with a maximum overall weight of up to 9.5 tonnes. Another advantage of the new "all-rounder" is its multi-functionality. Whereas special snowmobiles are only used in the winter months, with the Aebi VT450 Vario it is possible in just two hours to switch from crawlers to wheels and the vehicle is transformed into the transporter which you are familiar with from Aebi. More flexibility, more possible uses and – 365 days a year!

(Not) a question of the surface below for the master of transformation, the Aebi VT 450 Vario

As well as areas of snow and ice, the crawler track is also suitable for use on delicate or wet ground. The special profile of the crawlers ensures that they run very smoothly and, thanks to the large contact area, the ground pressure is considerably reduced, which in turn protects the terrain below. The ground clearance is increased by around 120 mm as a result of the crawler track being fitted. This ensures that the vehicle is not grounded and does not become stuck when it is used on boggy terrain - even if the crawlers sink slightly into the ground. In addition, the crab steering can also be optimally used because the crawlers on the front axle and rear axle run in their own tracks and thus reduce the risk of sinking. The greatest possible traction is also guaranteed by the hydraulic torsion damping of the crawlers.

With a powerful 109 hp (80 kW), a torque of 420 Nm and a clean VM turbo diesel engine based on the EURO 6 Standard, the Aebi VT450 Vario also leads the way when it comes to being environmentally friendly and meets the strict requirements set by many car-free communities. A variety of versions with different attachments permit an almost unlimited number of possible uses – as a refuse transporter, sweeper, mower, grit spreader or a vehicle equipped with a snow blower, snow plough, spray bar, hook lift or three-way tipper. Individual and specific customer requirements can also be catered for because nothing is impossible for the mechanical engineers from Burgdorf – it is just the driving that you still have to do yourself.
