ADDED SPECIFICATION FOR STAGE IIIB BACKHOE LOADERS

The world’s number one backhoe loader range continues to benefit from increased performance and specification. With Stage IIIB/Tier 4 Interim models now in production, JCB’s 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders come as standard with the company’s highly-efficient Ecomax diesel engines, delivering up to 9% better fuel consumption despite providing a 6% boost in torque. JCB LiveLink is standard on all models and customers can opt for a new hydraulic thumb for the backhoe, along with new bucket toe plates to deliver flat bottomed trenches.

* Stage IIIB engines deliver fuel and performance benefits
* LiveLink standard on all 3CX and 4CX models
* Optional hydraulic thumb adds versatility
* Bucket tooth toe plate prevents service damage

Increased Performance With Reduced Consumption
The Ecomax engine is available in three power ratings for the 3CX and 4CX, to suit the needs of all backhoe loader users. The 3CX and 3CX Sitemaster come with a 55kW (74hp) engine, delivering 400Nm of torque. This engine delivers a 3% fuel improvement over the previous 85hp engine and benefits from a 1dB(A) reduction in noise levels.

The 3CX Sitemaster can also be specified with a 68kW (91hp), 433Nm version of the engine as an option, delivering 9% better efficiency than the previous 92hp engine. The 3CX Contractor and Contractor Pro, along with the 4CX, will all come with a 81kW (109hp) engine developing 516Nm of torque. This engine delivers 3% better fuel consumption, despite the increase in output.

A variable flow hydraulic pump comes as standard on all models bar the 3CX, delivering 165 litres/min of flow. This high performance pump matches flow to demand, reducing fuel consumption. However peak flow is up by 32% on 74hp machines, by 14% on 91hp engines and by 7% on the 109hp backhoes. The variable displacement hydraulic system no longer requires the operator to manually switch to Eco mode, as this is done automatically. The system senses the pressures and flow, prioritising automatically where the demand is required. This leads to lower lever efforts, reduced noise levels and rapid response to controls for up to 30% faster cycle times.

Standard LiveLink Functionality Improved
JCB’s LiveLink telematic system delivers further integration with the electronically-controlled engine and hydraulic system. This provides customers with increased data from the machine, including fuel levels, fuel use, idle times and operating mode selection. With remote engine monitoring and location services rental customers will be able to closely follow their equipment on site, ensuring that all working hours are charged and increasing machine utilisation.

Hydraulic Thumb Adds Versatility
Already popular in the US market, JCB is making a new hydraulic thumb attachment available on all 3CX and 4CX models, including those with an extending dipper arm. The hydraulic thumb delivers faster rehandling capabilities, and can be used with or without a hydraulic quick hitch. The attachment allows operators to pick up timber, rocks and concrete, easily moving obstructions from the working area. The thumb is available as an option on the 4CX Wastemaster, further adding to this versatile machine’s capabilities.

Rear Bucket Toe Plate Protection
To meet the needs of customers in several European countries, JCB has developed a backhoe bucket toe plate to replace bucket teeth. The hardened steel toe plate, which is available on a range of backhoe buckets, prevents accidental damage to services and allows operators to provide a completely flat-bottomed trench.

Stabiliser Street Pads

All JCB 3CX and 4CX models benefit from new optional front shovel ram guards, providing additional protection on the rear of the shovel. In addition customers can specify optional front shovel street pads that sit on the rear of the shovel when not in use.

Similar to the rear stabiliser pads, that are used to protect delicate road surfaces when operating, these pads fold out under the front shovel to protect the asphalt, avoiding costly reinstatement work. The machines are also available with removable rear light guards. These robust guards slide over the rear lights while the machine is working on site, but can be easily removed for road travel.
