CeMAT INDIA: Innovative technologies for the burgeoning Indian logistics market

The Indian economy is among the fastest-growing in the world, and this was abundantly clear from the upbeat mood at CeMAT INDIA, which was held from 10 to 13 December 2014 at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center in New Delhi. Over the course of four days, 104 logistics exhibitors from 15 nations presented the kinds of technologies and solutions India needs in order to build a smoothly functioning, world-class supply chain. “India’s economic upswing was very much in evidence at CeMAT INDIA. Business activity is picking up on the back of strong domestic demand, and the fast pace of growth in the eCommerce sector is feeding though into demand for logistics systems. The exhibitors used CeMAT INDIA to showcase solutions for the growing Indian logistics market,” said Wolfgang Pech, Deutsche Messe’s Senior Vice President in charge of CeMAT events worldwide.

These sentiments are echoed by the exhibitors, including Jungheinrich – a major international manufacturer of industrial trucks and warehouse technology. “We are doing very well in India, thanks to our high-quality products. Our local subsidiary, Jungheinrich Lift Truck India Pvt. Ltd, was established in 2012, and we have enjoyed steady growth in our business here ever since. At this year’s CeMAT INDIA, we showcased industrial trucks of all kinds. Going forward, we will be scaling up our offering of automated warehouse systems in order to service growing demand, as more and more of our Indian customers seek to upgrade their infrastructure,” said Klaus-Peter Simon, the CEO of Jungheinrich Lift Truck India Pvt. Ltd.

The burgeoning Indian market is benefiting the international industrial trucks sector as a whole, including Yale, whose products were exhibited at CeMAT INDIA by its exclusive distributor, Maini Materials Movement. Maini also used the fair to showcase a range of turnkey integrated solutions for the Indian logistics market.

CeMAT INDIA attracted 9,439 visitors, including company delegations from Adani Logistics, APM Terminal, Asian Paints, Celibi Cargo, DB Schenker, Godrej Interio, Harley Davidson, JCB, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India, Ozone Developers, Roop Automotive, Sandhar Group and Toyota.

The CeMAT INDIA exhibition program encompassed everything that is used in or can enhance production and warehouse logistics, including industrial trucks, cranes and hoisting equipment, height access platforms and continuous handling systems, rack systems, factory equipment, pallets, containers, loading and unloading equipment, integrated systems and logistics software. The exhibitor line-up included big names, such as Cascade, Exide, Godrej & Boyce, Hercules Hoists, Hoffmann Fördertechnik, Jungheinrich, Kaup, Kelly Material Handling and Puma Lift Trucks.

CeMAT INDIA is part of the WIN INDIA tradeshow cluster, meaning that it was co-located with three other industrial trade shows, namely MDA INDIA (power transmission and control), Industrial Automation INDIA and Surface Technology INDIA. WIN INDIA is organized jointly by Deutsche Messe and Hannover Milano Fairs India. The next CeMAT INDIA will be held from 9 to 11 December 2015 in New Delhi.
