Backhoe loader world leader JCB is to introduce two additional variants of the JCB 3CX Compact offering a host of new features.
JCB launched the innovative 3CX Compact in 2015, delivering big machine performance for confined job sites. At just 1.9 metres wide and 2.74 metres high, the machine is perfect for road resurfacing and repair contractors, utilities, groundworkers and municipalities working in the confines of congested urban areas.
Today JCB unveils for the first time the new 3CX Compact PLUS and the 3CX Compact PRO models offering enhanced attachment compatibility to undertake a range of new applications including landscaping, winter maintenance and other high performance construction duties.
New features on the models include:
Front Auxiliary Constant Flow (70 litres per minute on the PLUS and 120 1itres per minute on the PRO)
Varispeed transmission to enable travel speed to be set independently of hydraulic flow
Single front loader lever
Front skid steer quick hitch
Auto 2/4 wheel steer alignment
Optional rear excavator Powerslide
In addition, the new 3CX Compact PRO features a 7-way multifunction joystick.
JCB Chief Innovation and Growth Officer Tim Burnhope said: “The backhoe loader is already one of the world’s most versatile pieces of construction equipment and when JCB launched the 3CX Compact in 2015, we condensed 60 years of expertise to create a backhoe with all the versatility, productivity and ease of use of the market-leading 3CX, with even more manoeuvrable dimensions.
“With the launch of two new models in the range we are offering our customers an even more versatile tool carrier. With up to 70% more hydraulic flow, a skid steer loader quickhitch and multi-functional joystick, the new machines will be the most versatile on the market and open up new applications for backhoe loaders.”
The 3CX Compact PLUS offers constant auxiliary flow of 70 litres per minute, allowing a continuous supply of hydraulic oil to the loader attachment and enabling easier operation of attachments such as sweeper collectors or brooms for prolonged periods to minimise driver fatigue. In addition, the VariSpeed transmission now empowers the operator to control machine speed and engine speed independently to maximise attachment performance while limiting travel speed.
These new features are enhanced with ergonomic improvements including the replacement of twin loader levers with a simple single lever to control front loader applications. A new periscope mirror provides a clear close-up view of the newly fitted skid steer loader quick coupler and quick release couplings, making it quick and easy to interchange attachments hydraulically from within the cab as well as improving application visibility and performance.
The 3CX Compact PRO maintains the fundamental geometry of the standard machine with new features such as high flow and a new multifunctional joystick to the front loader to make this the flagship offering in the range.
The PRO delivers 70% more hydraulic flow to the front loader than the standard and PLUS machines, with dedicated SSL connectors and true 120 lpm hydraulic flow to enable the use of a wider variety of high flow attachments to maximise performance and versatility.
VariSpeed PRO on the JCB 3CX Compact Pro model provides a superior creep speed facility to other machines on the market with two independent hydraulic pumps, enabling the operator to set the forward speed according to the optimum hydraulic flow and pressure of the attachment to maximise performance.
The new 7-way multifunction joystick provides complete in-cab control of the new high flow auxiliary functions, familiar to skid steer users, making it easier and more familiar to operate a diverse range of different high performance attachments.
Both the PLUS and PRO models will also benefit from a host of new features such as automatic 2 and 4 wheel steer as well as other options such as Powerslide, internal and external storage, step lights and LED lighting and a tow hitch.
Powerslide enables the rear excavator to hydraulically side shift, reducing the need to re-position without causing ground damage, maximising use in in confined spaces.
