Skanska upgrades railway track in Brno, Czech Republic, for CZK 1.5 billion, about SEK 610 M

Skanska has, together with Electrification of Railways in Prague, signed a contract with The Railway Administration of the Czech Republic to upgrade of an 8.5 kilometer long railway track in Brno, Czech Republic. Skanska’s part of the contract is worth CZK 1.5 billion, about SEK 610 M, which will be included in the order bookings for Europe for the third quarter 2020.

Skanska is responsible for a complete upgrade of the infrastructure, pre-electrification adjustments, to make the track more environmentally friendly, and for doubling part of the track. Moreover, Skanska will build two brand new stops, as well as several new underpasses for pedestrians, four new crossings, several bridges and culverts and a reconstruction of a steel bridge for pedestrians. The part of the project that concerns the electrification system will be carried out by Electrification of Railways in Prague.

Construction will start in July 2020 with expected completion in August 2022.
