After the successful establishment of cooperation between SMS CZ and business partners from Australia last year, the Rokycany company is deepening its cooperation and increasing the volume of machine deliveries to the country by almost double.

“We have been exporting our machines to Australia and Oceania for more than 11 years. Especially in New Zealand there is a great demand for SMS CZ machines and every year we export on average several dozen pieces of equipment. That is why I am pleased that we have been able to strengthen our position in this area and are successfully expanding into Australia,” says Petr Jirsa, Managing Director of SMS CZ s.r.o.

The agricultural conditions in Australia, which is characterised by a favourable climate with mild winters, but also low rainfall or flooding, are perfect for SMS CZ machines. The Czech machinery stands out for its durability, quality workmanship, simplicity and integration of several working tasks into one pass. In addition, SMS CZ also offers a wide working area, which local farmers require, as the average Australian farm area is 3200 ha.

“Last year we exported 15 pieces of equipment to Australia, and this year we plan to export twice as much. Our long term goal is to get to 100 pieces of equipment a year in deliveries, we still have a lot of hard work to do to break that mark.”

And what machines are available to Australian farmers? The country offers the SUPERIOR G disc cultivator with 8, 10 and 12m reaches. The machine is used for fast tillage and is valued by counter-tillers for its G-frame design, which allows for high workloads.

In addition, TERAN 1220 Cambridge rollers with a working width of 12.2 m are delivered to the ground. The machine offers a wide working width and has a simple chassis; in addition, the rollers can be fitted with 610/630 mm diameter discs, which means, among other things, an increase in the weight of the machine and thus the crushing effect of clods in the field. Other available rollers are the TITAN 830 with front crossboard and seeding superstructure. This is an agro-technological principle known from New Zealand, whereby the soil preparation involves crushing the clods with the crossboard and then sowing/intersowing and rolling in one pass. It is a popular method of sowing quickly and efficiently in the southern hemisphere. Not forgetting TERAN N for use in the vineyard. It is worth mentioning that the machine has been adapted to the needs of the Australian market and is delivered to the country with working widths of 150 and 180 cm, as well as being equipped with a split seeding body, where 50% of the volume is seed and 50% fertiliser. In a single pass, old grass is combed out, reseeded, fertilised and rolled with a prismatic roller.

Also available to Australian farmers is the popular SMART 300 seed drill machine and the PORTO V15 self-loading round bale trailer.
