BIMobject – Europe’s fastest growing digital content management system for BIM (Building Information Modelling) objects – came to Milan in September for a two-day conference on the latest developments in BIM technology, where the ROCKPANEL company was awarded ‘Best Use of Private Cloud’.
What is BIM?
Building Information Modelling is an increasingly important aspect of the planning and implementation of construction projects, helping to deliver efficiencies that in turn reduce cost, labour, and even carbon emissions, contributing to a more holistically sustainable construction process.
BIM data files can be used to create a realistic visual display of buildings and improve the reliability of communication on planning and among the various trades involved, including architects, engineers, and contractors during construction, and can also be useful in providing the blueprint for the maintenance of a construction over its lifetime.
The importance of BIM in modern construction is underlined by its ability to minimise expenditure - in various ways - and by maintaining efficiencies, buildings using BIM are often compliant with sustainability schemes such as LEED and BREEAM.
BIMobject Awards
During the recent event in Milan, which marked the very first distribution of BIMobject Awards, nominees were featured across five categories: Most downloaded BIMobject; Most downloaded brand; Best use of BIManalytics™Pro; Best use of private clouds; and Developers’ choice of BIMobjects.
The ROCKPANEL company received the Award for Best Use of Private Cloud, chosen for the creative and innovative integration of the BIM portal on their website across all 13 of their different markets. Also noted was the integration of a BIM instructional video
on the ROCKPANEL BIM portal, providing additional service
to BIM users on the ROCKPANEL site.
