TIER 4 INTERIM POWER FOR JCB’S LARGEST CRAWLER EXCAVATOR

Taking center stage at Conexpo this year will be JCB’s JS360, the company’s largest crawler excavator, designed for heavy earthmoving and quarry applications.

Tipping the scales at 84,600lb, the JS360 is powered by a six-cylinder, 7.8-liter Isuzu engine, meeting Tier 4 Interim emissions standards. This highly efficient powerplant produces 281hp (210kW) at just 1,900rpm, driving a sophisticated twin pump, load sensing hydraulic system to deliver strong digging performance. When equipped with a  21’2” main boom and a 7’3” dipper arm, the JS360 delivers 55,776.9lbf of dipper tearout and 61,103 lbf of bucket tearout force.

All JCB heavyline JS crawler excavators benefit from a revised cab interior with significantly reduced noise levels. The cab incorporates a 7” full color multi-function LCD display that is easy to read in all light conditions. The monitor provides the operator with customizable home screens, allowing them to display the information that they require to operate most effectively.  Selection of the machine’s power bands have now been simplified with the use of a single rotating control dial.  As the dial is rotated the engine speed increases through four new power bands from L to H+.   

The Lifting mode delivers high pressure with reduced hydraulic pump flow, for maximum lift capacity and control. General operating mode provides the optimum balance between productivity and machine efficiency. Heavy mode is designed for high productivity bulk excavation and earthmoving duties. Heavy Plus is the maximum operating mode, delivering power and hydraulic pump performance. Selection of this mode is achieved by turning the dial to H mode and then selecting the + button by the selection dial.

A Power Boost function is automatic in the L power band with manual selection in all other power bands, offering increasing performance when required.

JCB’s LiveLink telematic solution has also been enhanced with the introduction of these models. Through the fully electronic engine control, JCB LiveLink provides fleet owners and managers with remote fuel consumption data for each machine, allowing managers to see mode choice and engine power use from the office.  Machine security is also enhanced through the option of ECU matching, allowing companies to match the LiveLink control unit with that of the machine. If the LiveLink telematic unit is tampered with, it prevents the machine being started through communication with the engine control.

The JS360 is also available in XD demolition specification or with a 69’3” long reach boom for waterway maintenance and dredging operations. The JS360LC XD features added protection for both the machine and the operator, including an XD cage for the cab, heavy duty undercarriage and side impact protection.

Also available is the JS360 HRD with a modular three-piece demolition rig, the machine offers 69’3” of reach from the ground to the bucket pin. In addition, the modular boom construction allows the customer to rapidly change from high-reach equipment to a standard digging boom for site clearance work, adding to the versatility of the 36 ton machine. The JS360HRD can also be specified with a hydraulic tilting cab to provide the operator with improved visibility of the working area, plus a heavier counterweight to offset the improved work equipment. An overload warning system is incorporated to indicate when the machine reaches its operating limits and as with all JCB excavators the machine can be supplied with multiple LED lights to allow work in all conditions.
