  1. Most stolen items are transported between 5pm and 8am - and on bank holidays and weekends. Some use legitimate transport agenices and other use curtain sided trailers.
  2. Check the livery on the equipment - if there is none or if it has been removed, stop it...
  3. Insecure loads are a sign that something may be wrong - stop it and investigate...
  4. If you can see the item that is being transported, check that all windows are intact and that no decals have been removed...
  5. Once stopped, ask for paperwork relating to the item and consider the following questions:
    • Where are they going?
    • Where have they collected the item from?
    • Who owns the item?
  6. Also, check the serial number - does it look OK? Use the TER plant and equipment pocket guide to help you locate the serial number if it cannot be found. Then check it on PNC and with TER...

The TER plant and equipment training courses run throughout the year - please contact TER for further information.
