New Holland Construction skid steer loaders and compact track loaders take productivity to the next level with Tier 4 Final engine technology

New Holland Construction’s 200 Series will now benefit from three Tier 4 Final compliant models, including the new L216 skid steer loader, and a full offering of fuel-efficient Tier 4 Interim engine configurations. Drawing from more than 40 years of skid steer loader leadership, the next generation of skid steer and compact track loaders maintains the same compact dimensions of the previous models while delivering more power and torque than ever before:

• Tier 4 Final mid-frame skid steer loaders raise the bar on productivity, torque and fuel economy

• The new radial-lift Tier 4 Final L216 skid steer loader offers best-in-class peak torque

• The upgraded large-frame line-up delivers more performance in a fuel-efficient, compact design

• Advanced auxiliary hydraulics for greater versatility and massive hydraulic power

• Superior all round visibility and excellent serviceability with easy ground access

“Maintenance-free” Tier 4 Final solution for the mid-frame skid steer loaders

The two mid-size models of the New Holland Construction skid steer loader range meet the stringent Tier 4 Final emission standards with a diesel oxidation catalyst-only solution that delivers considerable benefits in fuel saving, performance and maintenance convenience. The L220 model gets tougher with a four-cylinder, turbocharged 67 hp engine which delivers a 12% increase of horsepower and it is tuned for a robust 22% boost in peak torque to 208 Nm and a rated operating capacity of 905 kg. The Tier 4 Final L218 model remains at 60 hp of gross power but with a 7% increase in peak torque to 183 Nm and a 818 kg operating capacity. Using the proven DOC-only exhaust after-treatment system, these machines provide greater convenience and maintenance-free operation with no requirement for filter regeneration or replacement.

The L218 and the L220 skid steer loaders incorporate the fuel-efficient High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) injection design typically used in larger construction equipment. The HPCR ensures extremely high injection precision and allows to get higher torque output and more useful power from every drop of fuel. Both models also feature the electronic engine control which provides superior engine efficiency and enhanced responsiveness to operator commands.

The New Holland mid-frame line-up also includes the C227 compact track loaders which are powered by a 74 hp, turbocharged FPT Industrial engine complying with Tier 4 Interim emission standards. These radial-lift compact track loaders provide excellent pushing and digging force thanks to a rated operating capacity of 1225 kg and a bucket breakout force of 32.3 kN.

Introducing Tier 4 Final standards in the compact-frame segment

The New Holland L216 skid steer loader with radial lift is the Tier 4 Final evolution of the L215 model and takes the lead in its category by providing 188 Nm of peak torque, with an impressive 27% increase compared with the previous generation. The four-cylinder, turbocharged 60 hp engine with an upgraded 2.2 litre displacement of the L216 skid steer loader delivers 15% more horsepower and boosts up to 725 kg of operating capacity. With the auxiliary hydraulic flow, the hydraulic power of the L216 model is boosted from 59 litres per minute up to 70 litres per minute, providing significant advantages in terms of speed and productivity when operating hydraulic attachments.
The New Holland compact skid steer loader range is completed by the L213 radial-lift model, now powered with an improved 2.2 litre, Tier 4 Interim compliant engine with 49 gross horsepower. This unit develops a remarkable 10% torque rise - up to 143 Nm - and it is designed for even more efficiency and reliability thanks to the new loader arm stops that allow the loader arm to lean directly into the chassis for superior digging and pushing strength.

More performance and fuel efficiency at the top of the range

In the high-end segment, the L230 skid steer loader and the C238 compact track loader now fully meet the Tier 4 Interim emission regulations with the new turbocharged 90 hp engine designed by sister company FPT Industrial. The 3.4 litre engine delivers outstanding torque of 383 Nm at a low engine speed of only 1400 rpm, with a 13% increase in pushing power. These machines are particularly effective in the toughest applications that require massive breakout force and demanding hydraulic-powered attachments. The L230 skid steer loader delivers up to 1360 kg of rated operating capacity while the C238 compact track loader tips the scales at an impressive 1723 kg.

The large-frame offering also includes the L223 skid steer loaders powered by a Tier 4 Interim compliant, turbocharged FPT Industrial engine with 74 horsepower. With a remarkable bucket breakout force of 32.3 kN, these machines offer an efficient digging capability and enable the operators to tackle even the toughest jobs.

Productivity lifted to the highest level

The New Holland 200 Series features the unique vertical-lift geometry of the patented Super Boom® design. Standard on the L218, L220, L223, L230 and C238 models, the Super Boom® design delivers best-in-class dump height and reach and enables the operator to load material right up to the centre of the truck bed, so that the it can be loaded much faster from one side.

The L213, L216 and C227 models with their radial-lift boom geometry are ideal for digging and pushing operations or for applications where maximum reach is needed at medium height. Productivity is boosted by their outstanding breakout force while the boom that leans directly into the chassis ensures more pushing power and digging efficiency.

The 200 Series offers the unmatched combination of a long wheelbase, a low center of gravity and a correct front-to-rear weight distribution, resulting in rock-solid stability and a smooth, more productive ride at work. The anti-bounce Glide Ride option prevents the arm from bouncing when traveling, ensuring that the bucket stays full even on rough terrains and enhancing the operator’s comfort. The optional self-leveling system provides increased attachment control since the bucket stays parallel to the ground during loader raise operations, preventing material spillage and increasing precision on load handling operations. The dozer-style undercarriage of the compact track loaders is engineered to hold fast on steep slopes and take command of muddy or sandy terrain. Furthermore, the models of the 200 Series can boost up to a 13% increase in operating capacity when mounted with additional counterweight kits.

Improved hydraulic power to handle any attachment

Starting from the L218 model, high-flow auxiliary hydraulics are offered as optional to provide up to 55% more flow for the most demanding attachments such as cold planers, wheel excavators or small mulchers. Available on the L230 and C238 models, the exclusive Enhanced High-Flow (EHF) option increases the pressure of the auxiliary hydraulic system by 70 bar, resulting in incomparable hydraulic power for larger attachment operations. The auxiliary hydraulics included as standard feature in every skid steer and compact track loader of the 200 Series are provided with proportional control integrated in the right joystick and are perfectly suited to handle most common hydraulic attachments.

There are tens of attachments available for the versatile New Holland 200 Series and they are easy and fast to change with the standard Connect Under Pressure feature. In addition, the optional hydraulic attachments coupler increases uptime and productivity by allowing the operator to exchange attachment quickly and safely without getting off the cab.

Superior visibility and comfort in a compact design

The 200 Series cab is designed for best-in-class comfort and outstanding all-round visibility that enable the operator to work with confidence and get more done in less time. The low threshold offers an excellent front view and the large side windows give the operator full control over the machine and the critical zones on the wheels or tracks. The rear window is even bigger than before and, together with the Super Boom® design, provides unobstructed visibility to the rear. The ample transparent roof window offers a clear view to the bucket at full height for improved safety.
Best-in-class serviceability for maximum uptime and safety
The sophisticated design of the 200 Series ensures easy and intuitive maintenance, even for those models featuring the advanced Tier 4 engine technology. All the main service points are grouped and easily accessible at ground level, so the daily maintenance operations can be completed quickly and efficiently. The boom can be locked in the upper position from inside the cab allowing these operations to be carried out safely. Moreover, when the cab is tilted an automatic system locks it granting operator’s safety.
