Double victory for STILL

This prestigious award, already in its third year, is conferred under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, with sponsorship from the Materials Handling and Intralogistics Sector Association of the German Engineering Association (VDMA) and further support from CeMAT and a number of other partners.

STILL's RX 60-80 electric forklift truck was named the winner in the 'Counterbalanced Forklift Trucks over 3.5 t' category, which is the most important category in the whole competition according to Dorothee Baer, speaker at the award ceremony and Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure. In order to decide on the winners, the IFOY Awards' international panel of experts subjected the nominated forklift trucks to tests over the course of a week at the site of official logistics partner Hellmann Worldwide Logistics in Osnabrueck in February. In addition to their capacities in practical terms – the main aspects being cost-effectiveness, energy efficiency, sustainability, safety, ergonomics and design – the level of innovation that the trucks represent was also assessed. Here is a summary of what the testers thought: "The 8-tonne STILL RX 60-80 is strong and stable, yet still drives like a 4–5-tonne truck. This powerhouse from STILL is proof that electrically operated trucks in the heavy category have come to be an extremely logical alternative that comes highly recommended." Speaker Baer supports this testimony: "The winning forklift truck is impressive not only in terms of its power, cost-effectiveness and ergonomics, but also the high level of innovation it demonstrates."

STILL's second IFOY Award was in the 'Intralogistics Solutions' category, which sees the jury assess the level of innovation, customer benefit, sustainability and marketability for integrated overall intralogistics solutions. The award went to the system solution developed for an automatic raw materials warehouse belonging to plastic film manufacturer Kuraray Trosifol, which STILL designed and implemented in just nine weeks in Troisdorf. By guaranteeing that optimum use was made of the space available in the warehouse, this solution resulted in a significant efficiency increase within warehouse processes. Speaking at the event, Kai Hasenpusch, Managing Director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, said: "This project has set a benchmark for the future of warehouse design."

Thomas A. Fischer, Managing Director for Sales & Marketing at STILL, accepted both prizes in front of an audience of around 150 invited guests at BMW World in Munich.
