Langendorf’s renowned Inloader features at IAA

A total of five trailers will be presented by Langendorf at the forthcoming IAA trade show in Hanover, Germany. Four of them are on stand E06 in Hall 27 and one Flexliner in the outside exhibition area T13.

Langendorf’s inloader type SB will mark one of the most specialist trailers on display at IAA, whilst demonstrating to visitors the suitability of the range to carry concrete payloads, and not simply prefabricated elements. The inloader is a product which can be found in use on all continents around the world under the name Flatliner; with this latest incarnation of Langendorf’s renowned inloader range, customers can benefit from a range of enhancements which will make a demonstrable impact upon their business.

Designed for operation in conjunction with two or three axle tractor units, the inloader has an unladen weight of less than 9,500 kg. Thanks to its complex single wheel suspension, the loading space has a length of 9,500 mm and a width of 1,550 mm. This gives customers the opportunity of transporting loads with a length of more than 9 m and a height of up to 3.7 m. Loads of this size would otherwise have to be transported with low-loader trailers, often requiring an exceptional permit due to the loading height and width.

For the Flatliner this is not necessarily required, ensuring the customer benefits from maximum flexibility of operations.

Additionally, the load securing features of this product have been approved according to VDI 2700 by the TÜV Nord (in May 2008).

To load the trailer, the driver only has to pick up and secure the pallet by means of the fixing device and then can be underway quickly. This means that the complete loading procedure, including load securing, is completed in less than 15 minutes – TÜV approved and certified.

The flat pallets required for this (also called flats), can be produced in different versions to suit all kinds of load and therefore provide an optimum flow within the supply chain.

On the front platform over the fifth wheel coupling there is plenty of space for storing accessories, tool boxes and other auxiliary material, thanks to a length of nearly 3,000 mm. Additionally, there are integrated tool compartments mounted onto the trailer’s side.

The rear wall and the two side walls of the platform are one-piece and removable, with two pairs of lashing rings rated to 5,000 daN to ensure load security.

A ladder on the left and right hand side provides a safe access to the platform.

The single wheel suspension in swing execution is hydraulically operated for lowering. Also the compensation from one axle to another is made hydraulically and is cushioned by integrated hydro pneumatic accumulators. Therefore there is a complete stroke of 430 mm.

As the whole trailer is hydraulically lowered for loading and unloading, it is equipped with an emergency device on all three axles against uncontrolled lowering while driving. For increased safety this emergency device is operated mechanically and can be controlled quickly from the exterior. Thanks to the axle restraint device the first and third axle can be lifted when driving unladen – to minimise rolling resistance, thereby saving fuel and reducing tyre wear.

The hydraulic fixation device, which consists of either two or three elements on each side, and the fastening of the hydraulically locked rear door is supplied by an on-board electro-hydraulic pump assembly. On-board batteries ensure it can be operated independently from the tractor unit.

The fixation devices can also be moved along the complete loading space length, for maximum flexibility with different payloads. It is also possible to mount more than three fixation devices, and the arms can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. The highlight for this kind of load securing is that the complete operation is made from ground level, for maximum driver safety and time-saving.

In addition, the vehicle is equipped with seven pairs of lashing rings on the longitudinal members. Each lashing point can secure up to 7,000 daN.

The solidly built rear door can be pivoted by 270°, is locked hydraulically on the right hand side and is equipped with an integrated underride protection.

Spare wheels, accessories, a central lubrication system and other equipment are stored behind the overall aluminium cover.

The specification of the concrete inloader is completed by working lights on all important points, plug-in rotating flashing beacons as well as plugs for additional illumination.
