Lightweight but powerful

New pump system for slurry tank trailers

The demand for modern slurry technology has sharply increased once again due to the new German Fertiliser Ordinance (Düngeverordnung). In response to this, Annaburger Nutzfahrzeug GmbH has developed the new HTS 24.30 slurry tank trailer with powerful centrifugal pump and lightweight glass-fibre reinforced plastic tank (GRP). The vehicle with a capacity of 18.5 m3 only weighs 7.40 t despite the maximum 750/60 R 30.5 tyres, airsprung chassis and suction arm.

Since centrifugal pumps are unable to draw in liquids themselves, Annaburger's engineers have integrated a compressor in the suction pipe. This generates the required vacuum until the flow of liquid has reached the centrifugal pump. From this moment, the robust pump model fills the container at a rate of up to 6000 l/min. Due to this innovative pump combination, no vacuum is produced in the tank trailer. Accordingly, the tank form has been optimised for a low centre of gravity with indentations for large tyres.

Robust and inexpensive pump technology

"We are able to use a small, lightweight and inexpensive compressor because we generate the intake vacuum in the suction pipe. After the liquid is drawn in for the first time, it flows through the centrifugal pump and the system begins to operate at full power. The ball check valve between the container and pump opens and the liquid flows into the GRP tank," is how Dietmar Hinz from the Annaburger sales team explains the technology.

"Centrifugal pumps are cheaper to purchase and maintain than eccentric rotor pumps and, with our new system, offer a real alternative to them," adds Hinz.

The airsprung chassis with electronic forced steering and the vehicle frame are designed for professional use by contractors and large agricultural businesses. The automatic load relief on the first axle prevents negative drawbar loads with heavy attachments and an empty tank – for added passive safety.

The manufacturer optionally supplies an ISOBUS control unit and the DLG-recognised VAN-Control nutrient measurement system. This allows the slurry and digestate to be exactly metered depending on the desired quantity of nutrients in the field – as precisely as mineral fertilisers.

A broad range of slurry distributors (drag hose, drag shoe distributor, injectors and various soil cultivation devices) completes the equipment portfolio.
