3 in a row for CDE at Workplace and Employment Awards

CDE scooped the Managing Talent Award for the third year in a row at the Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards at the iconic Titanic Belfast exhibition and conference centre on 17th June.

The awards were attended by a record crowd of 550 for what is their 9th year and CDE were one of 15 winners to be announced on the night across a broad range of categories. Commenting on the award Brian McCullough, Head of Talent & Organisational Development at CDE said “We’re obviously delighted to pick up the Managing Talent award and to win it for three consecutive years is an endorsement of the culture that exists within the organisation and our commitment to continue to give all of our people the opportunity for personal and professional development.”

A key factor in retaining the Managing Talent award is the involvement that CDE has with various professional bodies and the opportunities this provides for continuing professional development. This includes accreditation by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers which offers CDE people a route to Chartered Engineer status and also includes working with bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

CDE has also been accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) as a Training Centre and over the course of the last 12 months has introduced their own Business Academy which they have called Stride. Brian McCullough explains “We have a unique business model for equipment manufacturers in our sector in that we have direct business development teams in all of the markets where we operate. This has involved extensive recruitment of business development roles in the last 12 months and Stride is the programme that we use to ensure we are able to continue to work in partnership with our customers to specify the most efficient materials washing plant while ensuring minimal environmental impact.”

This award follows on from the company winning the Commitment to People Development Award in the UK Chambers of Commerce Awards in 2014. Commenting on the company’s latest success Managing Director, Brendan McGurgan said “The global success we have enjoyed in recent years is down to the people that make CDE. The culture of innovation, continuous improvement and dedication to delivering world class projects for our customers is driven by every CDE person and awards such as those we have received from the Irish News and the UK Chambers of Commerce help us to continue to attract the best talent available.”
