40 years' expertise in tillage

The successful development of modern soil preparation implements requires extensive knowledge of sustainable cultivation. This knowledge has been consistently expanded by Pöttinger over the past 40 years.

The cornerstone for extending Pöttinger's range of soil preparation implements was laid in 1975, following the acquisition of the Bavarian Plough Factory in Landsberg am Lech. In 2001, mechanical and pneumatic mulch seed drills joined the range with the founding of Pöttinger Sätechnik GmbH. In Vodnany/Czech Republic, Pöttinger has built up the most modern tillage and seed drill plant with a new hardening centre and fully-automatic carbonising line.

Sustainable yield and ground conservation are two key issues in arable farming, to which Pöttinger does justice with all its technical developments. The many awards reaped by Pöttinger (Machine of the Year 2014 and the Fox Award for the AEROSEM, Silver medals for IDS – Intelligent Distributor System - and PCS – Precision Combi Seeding - on the AEROSEM, Innovation Prize for electronic ploughs, etc.) clearly show that Pöttinger is a specialist in seed and soil. Finishing one harvest means preparing for the next as farmers get their tillage implements out into the field. At Pöttinger, a new cycle of development begins every year at this time. For the forthcoming season, the Austrian family-owned company has another batch of innovations ready to go.

The Pöttinger arable concept

Pöttinger offers a comprehensive product range, extending from ploughs and harrows to mechanical and pneumatic seed drills as well as mulch seed drills. The reason for such a varied offering is the variety of applications worldwide: the choice between ploughing and minimum tillage is made depending on the soil, previous crop, crop rotation and extent of fusarium. Modern arable farming methods and new soil preparation systems, however, underline the general trend towards minimum tillage.

For the mixing of harvest residues and soil, Pöttinger offers compact disc harrows (TERRADISC) and stubble cultivators (SYNKRO). Alongside LION power harrows, the latest addition to the range is the FOX compact combination. This is designed especially for use in light to medium soils with low levels of harvest residues. The compact combination is a really cost-effective alternative to the power harrow: low draft and efficient with a wide range of applications.

Damp soil types lacking in oxygen are susceptible to compaction and flooding without primary tillage with a plough. Here, the SERVO plough is still the best tillage implement, preventing disease and pests. That is why Pöttinger offers a comprehensive range of reversing ploughs: 2 to 6-furrow mounted ploughs as well as semi-mounted 6 to 9-furrow models.

As far as seed drills are concerned, with the VITASEM mechanical seed drills, AEROSEM pneumatic seed drills and TERRASEM mulch seed drills, Pöttinger offers the right machine for every situation.

The new MULTILINE series from Pöttinger is a team of true all-rounders: this completely new concept combines a stubble cultivator with a seed drill (SYNKRO MULTILINE). This unit delivers cost-effective, high-performance drilling technology that enables sensational flexibility during operation. Used solo or in a combination, the new MULTILINE develops enormous potential.

The Pöttinger TEGOSEM catch crop spreader is also completely new. It is used in combination with a Pöttinger stubble cultivator or disc harrow and enables soil preparation and catch crop sowing in a single pass.

Pöttinger offers matching soil cultivation concepts ranging from straightforward, cost-effective solutions to extremely high-output results to meet the highest specifications. The Austrian agricultural machinery manufacturer will continue to provide developments and innovations for seed and soil in the future.
