  • Van der Vlist launches the Cargo-basket, a new rail platform for transporting oversized machines exceeding previous height and weight limits.

  • The Cargo-basket supports machines up to 10 meters long, 2.59 meters wide, about 4 meters high, and up to 25 tons.

  • Safety features include securing eyes, compliance with UIC Loading Guidelines, and integrated loading ramps for efficient handling.

  • Real-time GPS tracking enhances transport reliability and supports customer sustainability goals without sacrificing flexibility or efficiency.

Following the success of the S-Bolster, Van der Vlist is once again taking an innovative step in intermodal transport. We are proud to introduce the Cargo-basket: a specially developed rail platform that makes it possible to safely and sustainably transport even taller machines by rail.

The Cargo-basket has been redesigned for the transport of oversized machines that exceed the height and weight limits of existing rail solutions and are too tall for an S-Bolster. Think of excavators, agricultural vehicles, aerial work platforms, and other industrial machines — whether on wheels or tracks.

Technical specifications

The Cargo-basket accommodates machines up to 10 meters in length and a maximum width of 259 centimeters. The permitted height is approximately 4 meters. Exact dimensions may vary per rail connection. The platform is suitable for loads up to 25 tons.

Safety and Ease of Use First

The Cargo-basket is equipped with securing eyes and, together with the right tensioning materials, complies with the UIC Loading Guidelines. In addition, integrated loading ramps provide an efficient and safe way of loading and unloading.

Just like our other rail solutions, the Cargo-basket is also equipped with real-time GPS tracking, so the cargo can be continuously monitored. This contributes to the reliability and timeliness of the transport. With the introduction of the Basket, we expand our possibilities to support customers in their sustainability objectives, without making concessions to flexibility, safety, or efficiency.
