A Roller Portfolio That Leaves No Wish Unfulfilled

Wacker Neuson expands its roller product range by 5- and 7-ton single drum soil compactors.

Wacker Neuson improves its roller portfolio. The RTx trench roller is now available with the Compatec compaction control. The revised RD7 walk-behind roller arrives on the market in September. Besides its 15 ride-on roller models for soil and asphalt compaction, weighing from 1.5 to 4.5 tons, Wacker Neuson is offering entirely new compact single drum soil compactors in the 5 and 7-ton class – the RC50 and RC70 – notable for powerful compaction performance, above all in rough terrain, as well as excellent maneuverability and gradeability.

"Wacker Neuson has many years of experience and expertise in the field of compaction. The renewed expansion of the product range makes us an even more interesting partner for our customers, especially for the European rental yards," says Dieter Freisler, Regional President Wacker Neuson EMEA. "With the launch of the single drum soil compactor, we are expanding our product range upwards. Our customers can now select their entire range of soil and asphalt compaction equipment – from rammer to 7-ton single drum soil compactor – from a single source. What's more, our customers benefit from our diverse and comprehensive offer of products and services. Our service stands for speed, quality and absolute reliability." Spare parts for all Wacker Neuson products are available within 24 hours. Professionally equipped workshops and trained staff are available at all locations for sales and advice as well as for maintenance, repair and service.

Maneuverable and compact: the RD7 roller

The walk-behind double-drum vibratory roller RD7 is perfectly suited for the compaction of asphalt and granular materials. The RD7 was modified and now has an optimized center pole. Ergonomically designed – all controls are placed within easy reach, directly on the handle and center pole. In addition, the center pole offers improved control over the machine and faster turning maneuvers via side handles with integrated throttle lever. The compact design and upwards tapered frame allows the RD7 roller to compact right up to the edge of walls or other boundaries. Due to its shortened roller base with low center of gravity, the roller is now also much easier to maneuver than comparable models. A sequence of operations can thus be performed more fluidly and quickly. The RD7 roller is available optionally with electric or manual start. The dead man’s handle ensures a high degree of operator safety: in the event of danger, the vibratory roller stops automatically. The operator is protected against hand-arm vibrations by shock-mounts and dampers in the center pole.

The right connection: the RTx remote-controlled trench roller

The articulated trench roller is ideally suited for the compacting of excavations and subbases for foundations, roads and parking lots. The roller scores especially high when used on cohesive soils: the sheepsfoot drums in combination with the adjustable centrifugal force achieve optimal compaction results. Available in two different drum widths. By using drum extensions, it is possible to change flexibly between 56 and 82 cm operating widths. The roller's remote control system uses infrared technology for maximum safety: The machine is disabled as soon as the line of sight between operator and device is lost. A proximity recognition sensor stops the roller from moving closer than within two meters of the operator. The infrared contact points on the trench roller — the third point is new and placed prominently on top of the trench roller — ensure that contact between the remote control and the roller is permanently maintained, even in the trench sheeting and bracings. The RTx roller is available starting in autumn 2015 optionally with Compatec compaction control.

First Single Drum Soil Compactors from Wacker Neuson

The new, compact single drum soil compactors in the 5 and 7-ton class, RC50 and RC70, are characterized by powerful compaction performance, excellent maneuverability and gradeability. Optimal visibility in all directions makes work with the single drum soil compactor safe and comfortable. Because of the compact design and specially formed engine hood, the operator always has the work area and drums in view. The three-point articulated pendulum joint ensures greater driving comfort, guaranteeing even weight distribution, stable working principles and homogeneous compaction results. Gradeability as high as 60 percent is made possible due to an innovative drive concept and a powerful, slip-optimized wheel drive. Customers can configure the single drum soil compactor to meet their individual needs by selecting from numerous options; for example, with air-conditioning, different seat designs, lighting versions and compaction controls. Both models can be ordered with cabin, canopy or ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structure).

Tandem and Combination Rollers: 15 models

Wacker Neuson's range of products includes ten tandem-axle and five combination rollers in various designs – for application in uneven ground conditions and different gradients. The tandem rollers can be equipped with vibration or oscillation drums. Rollers with an oscillation drum compact extremely efficiently, since the drums maintain permanent contact with the ground. They are ideally suited for surface compaction. With its two synchronously rotating eccentric weights, the drum directs its entire compaction force into the ground through forward and backward movements – an advantage in vibration-sensitive areas, such as on bridges. In the compaction of asphalt, a larger temperature window can also be taken advantage of, since the material can also be compacted at lower temperatures.
