AD-P Super ISOBUS seed drill – good, better, SUPER

Increased work rates – improved efficiency

At Agritechnica 2015 AMAZONE presents for the first time the new AD-P Super pneumatic ISOBUS seed drill

The newly designed AD-P Super pneumatic seed drill replaces the successful previous series and is characterised by an even higher work rate potential than that of the new AD-P Special first shown at SIMA 2015. Special emphasis has been placed on the excellent level of operational comfort offered by this pneumatic pack top seed drill.

Large hopper capacity

The seed hopper, with a 1,500 l base volume is, thanks to its design with a favourable centre of gravity, positioned very close to the tractor. By use of an extension its capacity can be increased to 2,000 l. This large seed reserve reduces re-fill times and thus increases the efficiency.

Via the new, broader loading board, the seed hopper is easily accessed, allowing, amongst other things, the safe filling from small sacks. The hopper opening measures 2.23 x 1.30 m so that a high capacity filling operation with a front end loader or via big bags is also no problem.

The seed hopper is free from distributor heads and pipes and so can be easily monitored and cleaned out between seed types and varieties. The hopper concept is rounded off by the new, easy to handle roll-over hopper cover.

Perfect metering

As standard the AD-P Super is equipped with an electric metering drive offering several advantages. So, by the press of a button on the AMADRILL+, or on an ISOBUS terminal, the driver can carry out the calibration procedure and also adjust or re-adjust the seed rate. Depending on demand, the forward speed can be determined via different signal sources: a space-saving radar sensor, the tractor DIN speed socket or a GPS speed signal - each in combination with a working position sensor – or via a mechanical impulse wheel.

The central element of the seed distribution is the proven metering unit with exchangeable metering cassettes for differing seeds and seed rates. It is even more accessible so that the cassette change, the calibration procedure and the residue emptying can all be easily carried out.

Variable tramline control

With the newly designed tramline control now two additional rows and thus, in total, up to five seed rows on each side can be switched off. The correspondingly wide tramline wheel tracks are suitable for tyre widths up to 99.6 cm on a 16.6 cm row spacing or 75 cm on a 12.5 cm row spacing depending on the following crop husbandry tractors. In this way AMAZONE takes into account the move towards those crop husbandry tyres getting wider and wider.

Hydraulic blower fan drive

The new extremely efficient blower fan is characterised by its low oil requirement requiring just 21 l/min at 3,500 rpm and the minimal noise emission.

Electronics with ISOBUS

The AD-P Super can be supplied with state-of-the-art ISOBUS technology. This enables operation, depending on the level of equipment specified, being carried with the machine-specific AMADRILL+ terminal or with AMATRON 3, CCI 100 and AMAPAD ISOBUS terminals from AMAZONE or any other ISOBUS compatible terminal. As here the connection to many different kinds of ISOBUS Task Controller is also possible. The machine can also be equipped with the automatic GPS-Switch headland control. The easy to understand operating structure is, with regard to its software logic, on an equal with all other ISOBUS machines from AMAZONE.

Comfortable operation with ComfortPack and the TwinTerminal

The ComfortPack together with TwinTerminal 3.0, offers another advantage regarding operational comfort. This optional equipment allows the intuitive and comfortable calibration. The terminal consists of a dust- and water-proof housing with a 3.2" display and four user-friendly keys for actuation. Via a magnetic console, the TwinTerminal allows the flexible attachment to the seed hopper so that the calibration procedure can be started and stopped directly down at the machine via the secondary terminal. The driver now can enter the calibration seed rate directly into the remote terminal and thus the repeated climbing up and down into the tractor cab is no longer necessary.

New RoTeC pro coulter

The outstanding innovation for the seed placement is the new RoTeC pro disc coulter. It is characterised by the optimisation of the coulter bearing, a new furrow former, improved seed guidance and a fourth setting position for the depth guidance roller. The setting lever of the depth guidance roller has also been newly designed making the basic adjustment of the sowing depth easier still. Fine-tuning the depth is carried out via the hydraulic coulter pressure adjustment that is included as standard. This allows the driver to make a convenient and quick response from the tractor cab to changing sowing conditions. As special optional equipment, AMAZONE offers a sensor, so that when the coulter pressure is changed, the seed rates are also matched to the prevailing conditions.

If it is necessary to pre-work some areas of the field, such as, for example, on the headland, the coulters can be raised hydraulically. As an alternative to the RoTeC pro disc coulter, the lighter RoTeC disc coulter is also available for the AD-P Super.

New Roller harrow

From choice, the Exact harrow 3, or the Exact harrow 3S provide the ideal targeted seed embedment. Experience shows that the Exact harrow, as the perfect all-rounder, ensures the optimum seed coverage on virtually all soil types. However, for particularly dry sowing conditions or in light land, AMAZONE also offers the new Roller harrow which adds some additional reconsolidation of the seed. Here, the combination of drag tine harrow and press roller bar, turns out to be the optimum to initially cover the seed and then slightly press it in. As the coulters and rollers can be set independently, the harrow pressure can be adjusted irrespective of the coulter pressure. Another advantage is that the Roller harrow can follow the ground contours over a range of - 100 mm to + 100 mm. In addition, it features an overload safety device and during damp sowing conditions it can be raised out of work completely.

Exact operation – even after dark

Thanks to the perfect lighting, a sensible option offered are the LED work lights which assist the driver, during the evening and at night, to sow safely and precisely. So, the work lights fitted to the hopper illuminate the zone at the rear, ensuring a reliable view of the worked area. By simply turning on the spotlights, in addition to the sowing coulters, also the area around the metering unit is optimally lit up. So there is nothing, even after dark, that will affect the safe actuation of the calibration procedure or when residue emptying.
