Ammann wins major order from British GAP group

For the first time ever, Ammann Switzerland is supplying light tandem rollers to the British GAP group. By autumn 2011, no fewer than 140 AV12-2 and AV26-2 light tandem rollers will be available for hire from one of the UK’s biggest equipment depot networks.

The Gordon Anderson Plant (GAP) was founded in 1969, exactly 100 years after Ammann. GAP’s excellent reputation is based to no small extent on its outstanding customer service. Joint Managing Directors Douglas and Iain Anderson are running the company that was set up by their father, and GAP now employs some 800 people at 60 locations throughout the UK.

Safety, ecology, performance
To uphold its reputation as a leader in capital expenditure, the company’s investment in brand-new construction equipment will exceed €10 million this year. This equates to a total of 400 new machines – including 140 Ammann light rollers – that will be available for hire from the 60 GAP depots. This is the first time GAP has ordered this type of machine from the Swiss family company. The products from Ammann’s Langenthal factory were chosen for their sophisticated safety features, low noise levels and high vibrational forces.

Long-term customer relationship
Joint Managing Director Douglas Anderson explains the extremely high volume of investment undertaken by the Glasgow-headquartered company: “GAP’s recent capital expenditure proves our commitment towards our customers ensuring that we are providing them with the newest and highest quality equipment available.”

Developed and cultivated by Robert Brown, head of Ammann’s UK branch, the long-standing and close business relationship with the Anderson brothers was a major factor in securing this successful result. Both companies – Ammann and GAP – are owner managed businesses, they share similar values and embrace the principles of long-term business relations, honesty and trust.
