Application Without Limit: Vibratory plates by Wacker Neuson

Wacker Neuson is offering three remote-controlled models and a comprehensive range of reversible vibratory plates with the world-wide lowest hand-arm vibration (HAV) values.

A special center pole for reversible vibratory plates from Wacker Neuson in the weight class from 300 to 870 kilograms, or 40 to 100 kN of compaction performance make possible vibration values of less than 2.5 m/s² for hand-arm vibrations (HAV). This means that pursuant to occupational health and safety regulations, the operator may work without a time limitation with this equipment. This also applies to both new models, the DUPU80 and DPU110, which will be offered starting at the end of the year optionally with center pole or remote control in the upper performance segment.

With a total of three remote-controlled vibratory plates and nine models with extremely low HAV values, Wacker Neuson offers the broadest spectrum of operator-friendly, high-performance vibratory plates. "Soil compaction is hard work. We asked ourselves how – with the same compaction performance – we could make your job easier. Our solution: We minimize hand-arm vibrations via a vibration-reduced center pole or, as sole manufacturer, we can also completely eliminate them via our full range of three remote-controlled models," says Alexander Greschner, managing director of Wacker Neuson Produktion GmbH & Co. KG. "Not only does this mean that the end user enjoys increased safety and operating comfort, but the contractor also benefits, as he saves on the statutory burden of documenting and instructing the employees."

According to EC directive 2002/44/EC, every employer must conduct hazard analysis regarding the vibration exposure of his employees. The basis for this is an eight hour workday. If an employee is subjected to a dose of more than 2.5 m/s² over this time period, he must adopt special occupational safety measures, which is why one speaks of a trigger value. The threshold for the average daily vibration load of an operator during an eight-hour workday is 5 m/s². This exposure limit cannot be exceeded. Only devices with HAV values under 2.5 m/s² are exceptions.

For application on large construction sites, the compaction of anti-frost layers and subbases in road, path and parking lot construction or vibration of heavy interlocking paving stones – Wacker Neuson vibratory plates are made for professional long-time application in day-to-day operations at the job site. You will find the ideal unit for every requirement in our finely graded array of models. The vibratory plates can be guided precisely and with minimal effort, simultaneously offering a high degree of operating comfort because of low hand-arm vibrations. A further improvement of the center pole is the selectable idle position of the throttle lever, which prevents the unit accidentally being switched off. The Bowden cable for the engine speed adjustment runs inside of the center pole. This prevents the wire cable from being damaged. Moreover, the sturdier center pole lock offers increased stability during transport for all vibratory plates 300 kilograms and above.

The remote controlled vibratory plates DPU80r, DPU110r and DPU130r work entirely without hand-arm vibrations. The first two models will introduced for the first time in autumn 2015. They are capable of extremely high performance and possess a powerful engine that fulfills all emission directives. Additionally, they are very easy and efficient to operate, exceptionally compact and, because of their streamlined and low design, ideally suited for trench applications and between sheetings and bracings. An infra-red remote control in the new models guarantees the highest levels of safety, the same as in the time-tested and proven vibratory plate DPU130, which achieves the productivity of a 7-ton roller, with a centrifugal force of 130 kN and an operating width of 120 centimeters: Standing at a safe distance, the operator is protected from exposure to vibration, noise and dust. The vibratory plates can only be moved if the line of sight between operator and machine is unimpeded; a proximity (nearness) recognition sensor guarantees a safe minimum distance between the machine and the operator.

With the new introductions to the above performance segment, Wacker Neuson is now offering the entire product series of reversible vibratory plates — from 140 to 870 kilograms — without limitation of the operating time throughout one full working day. This is because the vibration values fall below the trigger value of 2.5 m/s², or are below the exposure limit value of 5 m/s² for the 30 kN units (eight hours per day permissible working time).
