Bauer creates foundation for Lakhta Tower in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg – Europe’s highest building will be located in St. Petersburg in Russia in a few years. The energy supplier Gazprom constructs its prestigious headquarters, the Lakhta Tower. The foundation for the building having a height of 460 meters was executed during 2013 by OOO BAUER Technologie, Moscow, a subsidiary of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH from Schrobenhausen, Germany.

The foundation design turned out to be extremely complicated due to the difficult soil conditions directly at the coastline. The responsible Bauer representatives persevered with the project and were finally awarded the foundation works. The structure will be based on 264 piles which reach a depth of 82 meters. Three state-of-the-art Bauer drilling rigs BG 40 and a BG 28 were deployed.

By the end of 2013 the foundation works were completed.
