„BAUER goes Water“: Systematic focus on drinking water and industrial water treatment

The former FWS Filter- und Wassertechnik GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BAUER Group from Schrobenhausen, has been trading under the new name of BAUER Water GmbH since March 11, 2011. FWS had already been operating as an equipment manufacturer in the field of water treatment since 2004, and now the company has been renamed in the context of the strategic development of the BAUER Group's Environment division.

The objective is to establish BAUER Water even more firmly in the drinking water sector and in the field of industrial water purification, to continue the expansion of its international business and to benefit from growth in this market.

Preparations for this strategic decision already commenced in 2010, and all activities in the areas of drinking water and industrial water treatment of the different subsidiaries have now been pooled in BAUER Water. At the same time, the remediation of contaminated groundwater and the treatment of building site water, tunnel water and landfill leachate was transferred to BAUER Umwelt GmbH, which will continue to provide and expand the corresponding services.

Water as a resource is and will continue to be a key topic. With operations in more than 120 countries around the world and services ranging from the exploration of new water reserves to well drilling and water treatment, the BAUER Group is in an ideal position for this market. The realization of the international BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, Transfer) project in Oman that commenced operation in November 2010, purifying 47,000 cubic metres of industrial waste water every day, is an impressive example of the capabilities of BAUER Water.
