With strong local and global suppliers BOMAG is well positioned for growth and the objectives of “Industrie 4.0”. At its “Supplier Day” in April with the theme “Growing together – creating value” BOMAG presented awards to suppliers in five different categories.
BOMAG suppliers from all over the world met in Koblenz, in the Rhein-Mosel-Halle. The leading global manufacturer in compaction technology invited some 400 guests to its “Supplier Day” with the watchword: “Growing together – creating value”.
At this annual event BOMAG uses the opportunity to develop dialogue with its global suppliers and creates a stimulating setting in which to discuss further cooperation. This year presentations gave an insight into topics such as purchasing, logistics, production and sales. Management showed suppliers the scale of growth potential at BOMAG. Visions for the future, such as “Industrie 4.0”, and their implications especially for the supply chain were also on the agenda.
BOMAG has grown significantly with local or global partners over the last few years. Every supplier can contribute to this success, from small and medium to very large companies according to BOMAG President Jörg Unger in his opening speech. The French Fayat Group, of which BOMAG has been a part since 2005, also presents interesting opportunities for suppliers. This was illustrated, by way of example, in the presentation given by Karel Goedkoop, Managing Director at RAVO. For the road sweeper manufacturer, both sides benefit from the partnership within the Fayat Group.
Cooperation as the basis of success
Stephan Adam, Supply Chain Vice President at BOMAG, emphasised that the supply chain strategy had changed with the market requirements over the last few years. “To meet customer requirements we work as closely as possible with our suppliers and seek to develop common strategies. Cooperation is the basis of success - for both sides.”
Managing Director, Ralf Junker, explained the objectives of the “Industrie und Produktion 4.0” in his presentation. BOMAG wishes to address and work with this vision together with its suppliers. Logistics plays a central role in “Produktion 4.0”. “We invite our suppliers to grow with us to achieve this goal.”
Supplier awards
BOMAG has an effective network of suppliers which meets the highest quality requirements. The following companies were awarded the title of best supplier in five categories: KTR Kupplungstechnik GmbH in the “Quality” category; AGROSTROJ Pelhrimov, a.s. (Czech Republic) for “Innovations”; Hoffmann GmbH quality instruments for “Indirect Purchasing.” Hatz GmbH & Co. KG was honoured in both the “Logistics” and “After Sales” category, thus simultaneously achieving the distinction of “best of the best” across all categories.
