‘Building tomorrow’ based on innovative today, says Volvo CE president

Martin Weissburg used a part of the Volvo press conference at Intermat Paris 2015 to highlight the company’s latest products – and its belief in the customer service potential offered by advanced analytics and smart machines.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has used a part of its international press conference at the Intermat Paris 2015 exhibition in France to underline the company’s commitment to the European market via the company’s multi-brand approach.

Mr. Weissburg concentrated his presentation, held on April 21st at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, on discussing global market developments and the highlights of the company’s participation at Intermat 2015. Stressing the company’s commitment to roadbuilding and compact equipment, among the new releases on show are the DD105 and DD25B double drum compactors, the EC18D compact excavator, as well as the EW160E wheeled excavator and the L90H wheel loader.

Intelligent systems

Befitting the ‘Building Tomorrow’ theme of its exhibition area, Mr. Weissburg also discussed the direction Volvo CE believes customer requirements are moving, describing a future where intelligent systems offer increased machine productivity and functionality, as well as improved asset and site management.

“The ‘internet of things’ increasingly allows us to create smart, connected machines that capture and deliver information that is valuable to our customers,” said Volvo CE president Martin Weissburg. “We have embarked on a plan to coordinate and expand our approach to the integration of intelligent systems. We are going to focus on four key areas that offer real value to customers – improving fuel efficiency, machine uptime, productivity and safety.”

A family affair

Following his presentation, Mr. Weissburg was joined on stage by Björn Ingemanson, president of Volvo Penta and Jonas Odermalm, segment manager for construction, Volvo Trucks, who each described the highlights of their respective exhibits.
